tonyw
Hi A bit about me, I am a landscaper from England with 12 yrs experience in the industry. Six of those years here in Australia. Over the years here in Australia I started work as the man on the tools in private residences and commercial sites, progressing to site foreman and then more recently a Service Delivery Manager looking after maintenance and project contracts with customers such as Sydney Airport Corporation,NSW State Library, Brookfield Johnsson Controls and Randwick City Council. Unfortunately the company I have been working for has gone through another cost cutting restructure and apparently there is no place for me therefore leaving me looking for a new employer and sponsor I recently moved from Sydney to Perth to find long term employment with better career opportunities. I have sent out many resumes and talked to many companies but still no sign of a job. if there is anybody out there that may be in a position to help it would be appreciated Tony
Rossmoyne
Tony I cannot help you but admire your positivity in looking for work and opportunities. Have you done the walk around to all the councils and other landscaping employers and promoting yourself? Yeah I guess as you are so proactive you have already done this. I wish you well and hope by replying to your post I have bumped this and other people who might be able to help you will see it. Good Luck! tonyw
Hi Rossmoyne, Many thanks for the feedback. yes i have done that and i am still finding more companies when driving around. i have had a couple of "trials" with the see how you go then look at sponsorship talk (more like cheap skilled labor to help complete jobs running late). I have also gone onto the various job web sites but as soon as companies hear you need sponsorship you tend to get a "No thanks" even when the job has been advertised for a few months. Part of the hope of moving interstate was the theory that Perth companies were more open to sponsorship. I have also had mixed info from a couple of immi agents about starting my own business and then sponsoring myself. So i contacted the DIPB and their staff dont really have any info on this but have heard it can be done. If anybody has any info that this could also be an option then i would appreciate it. Anyway i will keep hunting.
Rossmoyne
Tony have a chat to a Registered Migration Agent about buying a business and sponsoring yourself. I too have heard of this happening before, but not know all the details can't comment, but a good RMA should be able to help you.
