Charlene0610
Hi guys, looking for some help. Myself and my husband are the beginning stages of researching Perth, however there is so much info out there that we feel we had best go on holiday first to see everywhere first hand before making a final decision. Can anyone suggests places to visit whilst on holiday and also an area to stay, we are looking to emigrate to an area near local hospital, I am a nurse, has good schools and is basically a great area to bring up children. Near shops and local amenities but not the city. Somewhere that has a great sense of community. Not asking much am I. Any help and advice would be much appreciated. :smile2:
ROB T
Hi Charlene, there are quite a few nurses here on PP who I am sure will be able to offer you good advice. In the meantime however, and while you are waiting for them to respond, you can check out previous relevant posts via the search box at the top of the page. Charlene0610
Hi Rob, it does not have to be nurses that I chat to about places we should consider visiting. I have researched on areas on the internet, however what we read and what we see when we get there are completely different. Thought it best to visit before we decide on the best place for our family. I have already posted on the nurses thread that I found about the local hosps etc. Thanks for a quick reply, Cx
Lou8670
I would stay somewhere fairly central, either Perth, Fremantle or western suburbs. That way you can explore north, south and the city very easily. Definitely short list some surburbs near where you could be working but this could end up a long list and until you get there and know where you'll be working this may be difficult but I'd suggest just getting a feel for the place and have a holiday. I'd definitely visit Perth Zoo, Kings Park, penguin island, Fremantle, Caversham wildlife park, a vineyard to name a few places. Lou
verystormy
It will depend a bit on how long you are here. I would recommend somewhere central to stay. Things to do will depend a bit on when you are here as if in winter then that will limit some things. But generally: Kings Park Perth zoo Cavasham wildlife park Rottnest island Mandurah and a dolphin cruise Adventure world - it's not open in winter though A couple of days in Margaret River Fremantle and the prison. A cruise down the swan. A trip to the beach.

ali
There are a lot of hospitals in Perth which are spread far and wide so it is difficult to pinpoint where you should look as you don't know which hospital you will be working at. I work in Armadale but live in Leeming about a 25 min drive away - a big commute was something I really wanted to avoid.
CarolD
Hi hammond park is nice. Brand new hospital due to open soon. Shopping centre in cockburn 5 mins away. Good rail links. 20 mins drive to freo. 15 mins drive to beach. Lots of local schools and little parks. A new sports centre has just been agreed by local govt so it's worth a look. I live here and family friendly with links to everything x
Charlene0610
Thanks everyone for all the advice. It's so difficult trying to decide as we do not know where we will be working at the minute. Hoping to get everything organised once the baby is here, only 3 weeks to go ). I will have a look at all the suggested areas. Thanks Cxx
Guest sukhpreeet
Some of the places to see in Perth are Kings Park, Adventure Island, Perth Zoo and beautiful beaches. To enjoy the beaches, I suggest going to the Rottnest Island and enjoy the ferry ride and see the blue water.
