Hey guys,

Joined the site today, at the very beginning of researching Perth and job opportunities out there. I have been through the free assessment and know that I will be granted a PR visa, I'm a registered nurse. I am still looking at everything needed to apply for my AHPRA, which seems to be worse than the visa application. Pregnant at the minute so wanted to wait until possibly January time before starting the paperwork side of things. We have never been to Australia, but love the idea of the potential better life that it can provide for our family. WA is so massive that we are struggling to find the perfect place to settle, so hoping to plan a trip out there to see as much as possible for ourselves. Any ideas of areas to look at would be much appreciated.

Looking for areas that are family friendly, lots to do, near local amenities, great schools etc.

Any advice you guys can offer would be great.

Thanks

Cx

HI There,

Welcome to perth poms ;))) there will be lots of friendly help and advice here i have been on the site since starting our visa Journey 2 years ago, i am too pregnant and awaiting the arrival of our little girl in May before i can attend a medical. We are heading to Mandurah which is approx 40 miles south of Perth and seems to have a good set up for young families. We too have never been to WA but cannot wait to give it a shot and if it works out great if it doesnt then home will always be here to come back too.

Me 27, Husband 29, son 4, and one on the way!

Hi Charlene. You need to collect all of your docs for your skills assessment with ANMAC. I would do that before registering with APHRA. Once you have APHRA you have 12 months to validate your registration. Unless you plan to do that whilst on a trip there, you run the risk of not validating in time and having to do it all again. Once you've passed your ANMAC assessment, they'll send the docs to APHRA for you when they've finished with them saving you doing it all twice.

There are loads of great suburbs. My advice would be to base yourself somewhere central and then travel out from there looking at areas and getting a feel for places.

Perth is actually made up of a number of separate cities. For example, we are sort of in Perth, but are 100km away and our city is Mandurah.
