Skit78
Hi all, me and my wife moved to perth on 29th dec. My wife has been teaching for 9 years in the uk and we come to perth on a PR 175 visa. I'm posting this thread as we have been to around 10 to 15 schools to hand out cv's, applied for quite a few teaching jobs but no luck as yet. Is it really this hard to find work as a secondary teacher?. My wife has signed up with smart teachers, and looking online for jobs coming up, as well as doing some admin work just to get out and meet other people and get some funds coming in. One agents would not sign her up for temp work as if a position came up for teaching they said she would leave and take the teaching job, yeah of course, but it's temp work and would give notice to leave if this happened. Is their anyone who is in the same situation or could advise us on any thing she could do. Many thanks, scott.
Akasully2
I have heard it is a shrinking market because of the cuts but thought it would be fine for key subjects. We are coming over in May and I am an art and textiles teacher. Would be interested in hearing from others who are there and can comment. Good luck. Skit78
Hi Akasully2, hopefully some others will post threads on this, there must be other teachers out here who find it difficult with getting work. Well hope thing get a bit better as savings go quick here and we can not live on the wage I'm getting at the moment. Good luck with the move. Scott.
