wawb
Hey guys I was wondering if someone can help me with my question. I have logged my EOI for 190 WA, 4 months ago as my occupation is on sch 2 I haven't heard anything yet. Now I am thinking maybe applying for 489 would give me more chance to get the invitation. After all here is the question, if I get invited for 489, can I still keep my EOI for 190 or even lodge a new one, Would I still be eligible to be invited for 190 while I am on 489? Also is there anyone get the invitation from WA since last year October, would be great to hear from them if there is anyone. thanks guys

Do you not have enough for a 189? I think you can lodge different visa EOIs but be aware that I believe the others are cancelled once you are invited to apply for one of the visas. Also be careful applying for a 489 visa and make sure you understand all of the conditions of this visa. I know for instance some of the private schools we looked at did not have this visa on their list so were not able to accept students who were on this visa. Also it's a temporary visa which leads to permanent residency but seems to me to be treated as if you are aren't intending to stay and are a bit of a second class resident. Just make sure you are aware of all the ins and outs before changing to a different visa class. If you can, apply for a 189 visa, as this is the most flexible visa and gives you the most options. wawb
Hi Lou thanks for the info. I can't apply for 189 as my occupation is only in wasmol. I do have 70 points but again I can't apply for 189. I have been waiting for the invitation for a long time now so I am getting worried. I am aware of the conditions for 489, I am already working in regional area and I happy to move to a regional for living. Just not sure if I can't still apply for 190 while on 489. I think I will call the immigiration tomorrow and ask them.
nikkiwd
there are a couple of threads on this website from others with schedule 2 occupations who have not received invitations yet. It sounds like they aren't giving invitations for some reason just now. I think there are very few places for the 489visa (35 per invitation round rings a bell). Have you also checked you meet all the schedule 2 criteria as it has recently been updated.
wawb
Yes I have everything necessary, the only thing missing is the invitation I have been following all the topics and yes seems like no one has received it.
Lou8670
Yes I have everything necessary, the only thing missing is the invitation I have been following all the topics and yes seems like no one has received it. Have you checked your junk mail? It's happened to others before. Also, immi website states "Due to a large number of applications there will be a limit of 25 invitations for subclass 489 - Skilled Regional (Provisional) (Sponsored) visas until further notice. This change was implemented from the 24 February 2014 invitation round." So I'd stick with the 190 if I were you.
