Oooh, nice shiny tinware.

How did doing the work here compare with the UK? What's next?

Well it gets a bit hot and sweaty in the garage doing this kind of thing but apart from that the annoying thing was paying $20 for somethig that costs less than a £ in UK! But i guess thats WA for you! Also the non original parts over here are of a poorer quality, ie panels dont fit together, tinware holes don't line up..

As for whats next... I think a Kombi of some description, be it a splity, bay or T25.. i may even go water cooled and try a T4/5!

If any body knows of one going that needs some work let me know please!

Check out the Quokka for a bargain. A friend just picked up a lovely T3 (not sure if people will know what a T25 is here so lets just talk Kombi's), with very low KM's and mint. The Quokka is used by a lot of mature people as it's still old tech. As a result you can find the sort of vehicle that's been driven round the block once a week, service every year and is spotless for very little $.

I've seen a fair few Syncro's driving around and wonder how many of them have actually been driven in anger.

You are right the ones to have are the splitscreens! I had one in UK but had to sell before i came here. Not a lot of cash required just the skills to put it right when it goes wrong, because it will go wrong because its 46 years old minimum! Hard to find over here though, mainly rusty wrecks and like i said earlier parts are way over priced in WA.
