tayloal
Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help with some info. My girlfriend is currently having her skills assessed by AITSL as a primary school teacher and we know that if she is successful and gets her PR visa for Oz that she will need to register with TRBWA when she arrives. She has a 4 years B.ed degree and 15 years teaching experience across pre-primary & Primary school ages. Is there anything else she needs to get done when she arrives here (apart from get a job) in order to secure work? I've been reading a few old posts and may have gotten confused along the way as I have read about another assessment requirement through ACECQA, is this only for diplomas a 3 year degrees? As a side issue, AITSL have asked for a certified transcript of her qualification and my girlfriends uni don't do transcripts for pre 2000 degree's and she graduated in 1998, fun times ahead I think ! Thanks in advance Edited March 22, 2014 by tayloal spelling mistake
elizabethkolo
She'll also need a Working With Children check, which can be applied for from post offices. A police clearance is necessary, and she'll likely need an Aussie one when she gets there (even though she won't have spent much time there!). aligard
Hi there, I'm a primary teacher too. I've had all my skills assessed by aitsl and my degree was before 2000 too. It took me about 4 months for my unis to write me a letter stating that transcripts were not kept then and after a lot of messing aitsl accepted this. I've been teaching for 22 years. It's def worth registering with trb wa before you go as you need to send everything off again although in paper form not scanned so make sure you keep a copy! This takes about 2 months. From there contact the wa education dept for a screening number ie police check. Just send off you new uk one you need for the visa plus certified uk copies of passport. You are then nearly good to go. Get the working with children card when you arrive. We re just waiting for house sale and then we re off! Good luck Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help with some info.
