The interview is in 2 parts, 30 mins phone and then 10 mins internet???? Hopefully someone can help because I am a tad nervous ? and don't know what to expect HELP!!!

Thanks guys, I'm excited but nervous at the same time, been interviewed by 2 clinical specialists from 2 different hospitals for a job I love, hope I do well eeeeek

Done loads of phone interviews (interviewee and interviewing) in my time and they are a great way of getting to know you and your skills on a less formal basis. One tip which I find works for most people for some reason, take the call standing up so you can walk around while you're talking.

Good luck.

Good luck! I had a Skype interview this morning at 06:30 which lasted an hour and a half, luckily the bandwidth wasn't there on the Perth end for video so it was just audio.

I really enjoyed the call though and hoping to hear something tomorrow for a sponsored job with the company.

I had a face to face with the company when I came out in May last year so this was the second interview. I have everything crossed as I so want us all to be able to emigrate, especially as I can hear some absolutely massive hailstones just coming down outside right now!!

Good luck Emmiejay! Ive done lots of phone interviews (both interviewing and being interviewed) and my advice would be to approach it the same way that you would a face to face interview. Agree with smiling while you talk, it does help. Another 'advantage' of phone interviews is that while you are preparing you can write yourself brief notes and have a copy of your CV to hand whilst interviewing to remind you of key things you would like to get across and they wont know! Also as with a face to face interview don't be afraid to take a few seconds to think of your answer before you start talking or ask for clarification if you dont hear clearly or understand what thay are getting at with their questions.

Will keep everything crossed for you!

I agree with Walkabout's recommendations just above. It's just like any interview, only this time it will be on the phone. I too had a couple of Skype interviews - and I consider all of them as being face-to-face, so: suit, tie, etc. Plus, I prepare: I research the company, have my CV in front of me, and I prepare some questions that I want to ask.

You should prepare too!

Well the feedback on my interview was positive, currently my references are being checked and I'm waiting for the final word. All looking positive. A 457 initially with sponsorship for PR from it plus a relocation package may be offered too.

Wow, fantastic news! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it all works out, Deb x

Thanks Deb, and sorry Emmiejay for kind of edging in on your post, hopefully mine and yours will be good success stories. Mine initially started this time last year when a friend moved to Perth on a 189 PR visa. I came out in May to stay with them after he put me in touch with the company he worked for, we were going to do the Skype interview initially but then I met up with the company when I came out. Suffice to say I fell in love with Perth and knew I wanted to work for his company. Hopefully we are almost there.

It's taken almost a year and a mix of in person, telephone and Skype interviews. So be confident and you will get the job!
