Best of luck, I can imagine how excited, overwhelmed, stressed you must be feeling. Sit back on the plane have a drink and take it all in....blue skies are beckoning....

Thanks for your kind comments everyone. I hope all is going well for you all heading here.

Greetings from Perth! Phew, it's been a crazy few days! It's been a manic rush to get everything sorted, over to the airport on Friday night with a few hours sleep then off on a 20hr flight. We flew with Emirates (and very highly recommend them). Flights were great and kids behaved all the way for us (seat back entertainment was a life saver). The kids had a decent sleep on the 2nd leg, but neither jo or I could get anything more than a 20 min nap in. Getting off and to the apartment was fine, then the tiredness and jet lag kicked in! Nothing had prepared me for that! It was a total shock to the system! I mean real overwhelming 'what the hell am I doing here, why am I doing this' type feelings.

I had to go and meet my boss and the rest of the team on Monday morning and collect my car from work. Must have had 4 hrs sleep all Sunday night before jumping the train from Freo to burswood and put on a brave face (feeling utterly wiped out!), jumped in the car to sort the bank bits out in the CBD.

Finally feels like we have overcome the jet lag now, but need to get ourselves into a routine now!

Had a great day looking around the suburbs today for a suitable place to settle, doing the same tomorrow too.

All in all the place is wonderful, and we are so looking forward to exploring it further.

My advice would be, plan for a long, hard commute, travelling for over a day through multiple time zones screws with your sanity! Don't drink too much on the plane, don't plan anything formal for a few days, it takes a few days to recover from the journey, especially if you don't/can't sleep on the plane.

I will update you all further as we progress. Good luck everyone.

Thanks guys, another good day today, I had to collect a car seat for the little one from a school friend who lives in Hocking. He is moving to Quinn's Rocks so he suggested we explore up there. Mindarie is amazing, Quinn's Rocks not too hot from what we saw, same with Clarkson I'm afraid. The whole band around ikula, Kinross, currambine, ocean reef etc seems very nice. All in all lots of very nice places which seem similar from the surface. There are stand out places along the sunset coast drive, which are out of our reach, but that is to be expected. We will visit Canning Vale, Hammond Park, baldivis, success and Vic Park tomorrow to see what is going on SOR. I have to reiterate how stunning this place is once the tiredness wares off and the sun comes out :)

BTW, I am a security systems consultant, and will be overseeing the technical delivery of a new build high security prison in boulder ( I will be in the Perth engineering office though!)

Pete.
