Planned restrictions regarding Subclass 190 Visa

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

First time I've posted here, although I've been viewing for a number of months. Looking for some advice regrading our visa situation. We submitted our 190 Visa in June last year & then we put it on hold while my wife was pregnant. Had our Medicals on 4th February after the birth of our wee boy, with no apparent issues & we were hoping for the visa to be granted any time now. Unfortunately we've been told by email that there is now only a limited number of subclass 190 visas left for this programme year and there will be a delay in the selection process. This has knocked as back a fair bit as we were hoping to be in Perth in August/September, jobs permitting.

Has as anyone else experienced this scenario? I've emailed immigration but I received a non personal reply stating what they had already told me in the original email ?

Cheers,

Chris

I have just emailed my CO yesterday asking if he can give me any timeframe as I am in the same situation as you. I am hoping to go in August/September. I asked if there was a chance my visa might be processed before the end of this year's allocation and of not could it be anytime during next year's! He has sent me the following reply this morning....

I appreciate your concern about the current situation. Unfortunately I cannot give any guarantee of your application being finalised in any specific timeframe. That said, there is a chance that it might get through by the end of June. As I said before though, I cannot guarantee that.

If it does not get through before the end of June, I cannot see any reason that it would not be finalised between July 2014 and June 2015. Again, I cannot guarantee that.

If you haven’t heard from us by the end of July, please contact us again for an update.

Not really the answer I was looking for but I guess there is still a chance it may be granted soon. I wasn't expecting it to take this long when I look at others who had theirs granted within a week or so but that seems to be before the restrictions came into force about a month ago. Just our luck hey?

Many people received the similar e-mail saying in short, "There are few places left this year, if limits are reached then it may lapse after July"

They are still issueing visas, but very very slowly. From the forums I follow, I saw only 8 people who got a grant in March. We still have a slight hope to get a grant but most probably I assume it will be after July :(

For us, we are desperate to leave the country immidiately after the grant. Especially my husband doesnt even want to stay for a day longer than necessary. We're preparing and packing as if we are leaving in a few weeks. It's been 2 years now since we decided to immigrate and started the process. It's frustrating...

Thanks for the replies folks. Just really frustrating to get to this final stage & then having this additional worry. I emailed my CO but the reply came from a branch supervisor giving me the same feedback that you guys have been given. I've emailed again looking for more clarity. Fingers crossed we all receive good news sooner than later.

Hi folks - just thought I'd update you with the good news that we got our visa through this morning. A bit shocked after the recent developments but very relieved !!

I guess this gives hope to everyone out there waiting and proves there are still visas being issued despite the apparent shotages.

Good luck !!!
