Guest Guest6235
Hi, We have been given a quote today for a 20ft container by Crown relocations and they give a pricing in different zones, if you want to move within 30km of the port then they have quoted £4670 and for zone 2 which is up to 50km away from port is £4996 which we think is a bit steep. That included AQIS which I'm guessing is the customs checking. Would there be any other costs associated with the shipping apart from insurance? Any replies will be appreciated. Thanks

louisef
Hi - no neither quotes included AQUIS or insurance - but Pickfords were the cheapest and if they are as good as they say they are we cant go wrong ! The reviews on here look ok too so think pretty sure we ll use them. When are hoping to travel ?

Rossmoyne
Guys just make sure when you get quotes and they give you distances, that you know if they are quoting kilometres or miles..... some people have been caught out by this expecting the distances to be miles but they turned out to be kilometres. You can end up getting stung hefty extra fees for delivery if you think it is miles and in fact is kilometres.

Hi, Do you know how much the AQUIS is and if it's not included in the shipping cost then do you have to pay someone direct and when would you do this? We have Pickfords coming Wednesday and just sent an online form off to PSS

Guest Guest6235
Be careful with the price from some of these companies. We have just had our quote through from John Mason which looked very good at £3625 but....... They mention this in a paragraph, also on top of this would be Aqis on top would come to around £4300 In recent months, Australian Quarantine Authorities have imposed decontamination charges to a number of containers arriving at their ports. These fees can range between Aus$ 350 and Aus$ 600 per container and they relate to the container itself, not to its contents. As an alternative a non refundable pre-pay option of £15 will be added to your invoice unless you advise us otherwise that you prefer to pay the charge (if levied) direct to Australian Authorities
Guest Guest6235
Just been on the phone to John Mason asking about this decontamination charge and if you pay £15 pound up front and your container requires a clean in Perth then apparently there is no extra cost to pay, if you didn't pay the £15 then you maybe get hit with a hefty charge for it. A little extra money for the company on the off chance your container is found to be dirty, but for peace of mind worth it. Forgot to mention Masons have offered 4 week free storage if required but there is about £300 odd charge for warehouse handling cost Edited April 16, 2014 by Guest6235
Guest Guest6235
Just an update on quotes. Pickfords just e-mailed us today with their price. A sole 20ft is £2862 for up to 30 miles from port +£95 for up to 120 miles. The groupage price is £2195 (30 miles) + £95 for up to 120 miles. What are people's experiences of groupage and how did they feel about their gear been loaded in the wagon then taken off to be loaded in the container, as opposed to sole container getting loaded outside house & then locked up. Thanks Edited April 28, 2014 by Guest6235
louisef
Looks a really good price - do you know what they estimated your cubic meterage to be ?
Guest Guest6235
Didn't say to be honest it's just based on a 20ft container or groupage, he did say when he was here it could be around the 700cuft mark. It is for door to door service so I presume that covers customs charge which is something before it gets inspected (AQIS). Forgot to say AQIS charge approx £300 not included. I have e-mailed them though asking what government and port charges are as it says this is excluded.
