Jezmunger
Hi All, I have a state sponsored 489 visa but all the jobs I can apply for are in Perth what are the consequences of working outside of your visa. My visa agent said that it might go against me when I lodge my PR but my visa application was based on working in Perth. Many thanks Jeremy
DyLeB
By breaching your visa conditions your visa can be cancelled and you will not qualify for 887. There was a Scottish couple that did the same thing lived and worked in wrong area - there 887 was refused then they were deported.
verystormy
You must not breach your visa condition. You can not work in Perth for 12 months. If you do, you will find yourself on the way back to the UK
Rossmoyne
As everyone has said Jezmunger, you have to work in the area designated by your visa or you will have contravened your visa and will be on your way back to wherever home is. Can you not find a job at all in the area you are supposed to be?
Jezmunger
Many thanks for the responses. Basically I have just returned home from a month living in Mandurah where we are hoping to relocate to this year, but most of the jobs that I come across (I am a manufacturing engineer with HR experience) are in Perth so I was just wondering if the government take into account that you need to go where the work is, also my visa application was based on myself commuting to Perth to work. many thanks Jeremy

There are many people who take the 489 route and find they can not work in their normal proffession for the 12 month period stipulated. You will not, under any circumstances be permitted to work in Perth. There are a number of members on here who have moved to Mandurah in the same circumstances and they often just have to take a lower paid / less skilled job for the year.
