SJT
Can anyone help me. I'm trying to find a window cleaner, I have a two storey house and need the top windows cleaned and then monthly thereafter. I have tried scouring the streets trying to find one, like I use to do back in the UK when you first moved into a new street, and the ones I have managed to find won't come down this far from NOR. Any help greatly appreciated.

Rossmoyne
Try this guy... he does my gutters and has been helpful getting my roof and gutter stuff fixed too... he also does window cleaning. Nice and genuine guy trying to build up a business. enquiries@rooftopgw.com.au Found him through a letterbox drop and have used him for three or four years now. Let me know if he works out as I recommend him lots of times and have nothing but good feedback.

I too have a double storey, alas I have to clean my own windows, well the ones I can get to, OH does the others, not as regularly as I would like, but can't get a window cleaner up here for love nor money, I guess it's cause people wouldn't pay to have them cleaned, can't say as I ever see anyone cleaning their windows unless in a rental ready for a rental inspection perhaps. Rossmoynes connection sounds like it could be useful... peax
SJT
Thanks Rossmoyne, I will give them a go. I have always cleaned my own windows every week and then got them done once a month by professions. I just cannot reach the top ones and we don't own a ladder as yet as we may not need one. I had this guys flyer in the letter box a couple of months ago, kept it as I will need him too in the future, I have not used him so it's not a recommendation, let me know how you get on Craig's Window Cleaning 0450 727 707 His flyer says from $99 inside & out fly screens tracks & frames, 2nd story using a waterfed pole system that purifies water
verystormy
The reason i am interested is that it is still one of my business ideas if i cant find another job and get laid off. Now, only having a single story house i dont know how long it would take to do a double story, so how long do you guys estimate?
SJT
my upstairs windows are really big, they fill the whole area, as soon as I find a window cleaner, I will let you know how long they took. Seriously though I cannot believe the lack of window cleaners, I know most houses are only one storey but there must be lots of people that physically cannot clean their windows. I love my windows to be shiny and clean, and I don't believe I'm the only one, so VS I'm sure you will do a roaring trade if you do take it up. Guest guest9824
I think you may get lots of punters in certain areas, not many punters in some...costs wise I think I read someone on here or the other forum, got a quote to clean their windows and it was something extortionate for the single storey house to have the windows cleaned...thus I'm thinking the prices may put people off. If the fly screens on some houses are like ours, ie they don't come off, 'crimsafe' type, then the job can become complicated.
JohnC
Just got a quote from a guy from Keenkleen in Mindarie, he wants $250 to clean the windows, he just left a card with the price so I don't know what that covers yet, I have emailed him to find out, however it does seem very expensive to wash the windows. SJT
$250 wow that seems expensive, maybe that's why people don't have their windows cleaned, I can think of a much better way of spending that sort of money and it includes wine. verystormy
Wow - that is expensive - if he was going 20 a week, that is $260k a year earned.
elfie
Dear God I would have had to take a mortgage to pay for window cleaning its a rip off. I do mine every 2 months myself. Use the hose first to wash off the dust then sponge down with vinegar water and polish off. Scandalous prices for window cleaning.

This is one of the things on hubby's list of job ideas when we get there too, seems like it could be a winner, especially on the coast with all the salt spray, as long as he didn't charge the ridiculous prices it seems are being charged over there! This has to be the most expensive window cleaner on the planet! Yes but what state was the place in? My daughter took over a rental and had to get the windows, blinds etc cleaned as the last renter had done nothing towards keeping this clean. Quotes were in the many hundreds so family went in to do it.... the windows were so disgusting.... fly screens were caked with dust and the window tracks were so full of dust and dead flies none of the windows would open. Guessing that if the house was in that state that no-one would want to do it for anything cheap. And yes the real estate agent should have got this sorted, but they didn't... daughter now moving out and leaving the place in a much cleaner situation than it was when she and her husband moved in.... Hope they get their bond back!!!
SJT
Well if I tell you I am still looking, no one has replied to the emails I have sent. If you see a small child up a ladder in Scarborough looking scared and being shouted at, that will be my son, as obviously child labour is going to be the only way to get my outside windows done. So VS and Happy Little Vegemite I really cant see you having much competition and could really clean up, pardon the pun.
Druid
So what happened to 'Craig'? Its hard to believe that such a small thing like a window cleaner can generate so much interest & discussion, back in the UK they are fighting on the streets to get your business & then they do it for sweet FA, may be I'll buy me a long ladder & a squeegee
SJT
Seriously no one has answered my calls/emails/facebook messages. Exactly £15 did all my windows.

I have been washing the windows, screens ect up till about 4 weeks ago, but I work long hours and can't be bothered anymore and wanted to pay someone to do it, I emailed the guy to come give me a quote and he put a card in my mailbox telling me he didn't need to view the windows as he done them once before for the previous tenant, he wants $250 dollars for a couple of hours work. Guest guest9824
I think the problem is no one here would clean your windows for £15 equivalent would be $30. My teenage daughter earns that in a couple of hours on a Sunday in a coffee shop... I know it's sounds crazy but that's the way it is.... if someone can come and clean all my windows for $50 on a regular basis, then I'm in... JohnC
I'm not asking anyone to wash them for £15 or $30 fact is I would pay up to $100 to have someone wash them for me, but $250 is just taking the p###, its maximum two hours work, however maybe I'm not taking into consideration the years of training needed to do this job. SJT
I would just be grateful for someone to come back to me, the way its going I would gladly pay $250. I was prepared realistically $50 - $80 as its only upstairs, but I cannot believe I can't find someone. The next house I get is only going to be one storey so I can clean them as often as I like.
