Argghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ANTS HELP

I have a plague of ants coming up through the kitchen window gaps. They are driving me to despair now I cannot get rid of the little blighters. They are walking all over my draining board and work tops I cannot keep on top of them. I make sure to keep kitchen spotless of crumbs etc. I have tried every product I can think of from Bunnings. I have resorted to windex now it does kill them dead I have to say as I could not stick the smell of the chemical things - yes I know windex is a chemical but it smells nicer. Please any advice. I cannot even see outside where the buggers are getting in as I cant see them out there. I think they are ninja trained honestly I do. Beginning to think they are holed up in the cavity wall. Help I am well fraught .......................................

Haven't tried it personally but fingers crossed!! When we used to live in Asia I cleaning the inside of my pantry, cupboards and around my windows etc regularly with neat white vinegar. Supposedly ants don't like it, not sure if it was just pure luck, but I never had an issue with the litter blighters in the 5 years we lived there ;)

We've had this problem recently and after trawling the forums came up with this solution.

The key seems to be identifying what the little critters want to eat. I assumed that they were after sweet stuff but actually my infestation has a penchant for my cat biscuits! They weren't interested in any sweet based poisons I put down. Once I figured out that it was the biscuits I bashed a small handful up (cheesecake style) and laced them with Antrid. I then made little traps out of Oxo cube boxes that the ants could get in/out of easily but that the cats wouldn't be bothered about. I put the traps near where they were coming in, and refreshed the Antrid Cheesecake every couple of days. The numbers increase initially because you're feeding them their favourite food, but after a few days to a week the poison takes effect in the nest and it's killed off Queen and all.

We've been ant free for nearly two weeks. I did read that the nest can be taken over by other ants, but I'm ready and waiting to make new batches as needed!

We had billions of them in one night after wine induced poor judgement led us to leave the dirty dishes out on the side. They were the really tiny ones and seemed to be everywhere.

A quick dusting of DE (Diatomaceous Earth) around the skirting and they were gone. They hate it, it's the most amazing, harmless compound (don't breath in the fine dust though), and doesn't kill them, just deters them. We use it for controlling all critters in and outside the house but you have to make sure you buy the food grade stuff, not the one you can get in pool suppliers.

We get it about every 6 months. The product we buy are those little plastic ant baits from Woolworths. You peel the sticky back off so it sticks down, place in the middle of the line they are following and in a couple of days there gone. Also, follow them to their next and pour boiling water over it - that helps until the bait get them
