portlaunay
Hi and welcome to PP. I would think your chances of sponsorship are extremely slim, especially from the UK. You would first need to check the Immigration website to see if your job is listed on the SOL or CSOL. If it is, I'd advise talking to a registered migration agent to get some sound advice and look at pursuing PR.
Guest Macca
Thanks for taking the time to reply, my job is on the SOL, I have just registered with an agent, they said I have a chance, but wanted to speak to someone who as actually received a sponsorship, or know of anyone who has! verystormy
I orginally came on a sponsored visa. However, if you have the option of a PR visa then that is what i would recomend. It takes longer and costs more but does not have the pitfalls of a sponsored visa. The issue with finding a sponsor is that the usual visa is a 457. This is a temporary visa that has no automatic path to residence. Some go on to gain residence but some do not. It also has a restriction that if you lose your job you have 90 days to find another company willing and able to sponsor (not every company can) or leave the country. There are also facors with education if you have children - you would need to pay $4000 for a child and $2000 for subsequant children per year. If any of the kids were wanting to go to Uni while on a 457, then they would be international students and have fees potentialy in the tens of thousands. Of course though the biggest issue is finding a sponsor. Trades are VERY hard to find a sponsor as most are self employed and so not eligible for sponsorship.
