wild rose
Assistance depends on what visa you will be on. From what I understand if you are on a permanent visa (189 or 190) then you will be entitled to claim Family Tax Allowance and Family Tax rebate from Centre Link. If you find the centre link website there are calculators which will help you to see what you'd be entitled to (if anything). I'm pretty sure you're not entitled to any kind of jobseekers/unemployment benefits for a few years. It's certainly wise if you haven't got a job to go to to take enough money to live on for at least 3-6 months.
ali
Some people do it that way although it can prove a bit of a strain on the person left in the UK moving on their own with children later.

You haven't lived and worked here and you want benefits straight away!
dxboz
Think some of you guys are being a bit harsh. He is only asking what he might be entitled to if he cannot find a job - not saying he wants to do it. The OP is just doing his research and so he should - he is bringing over a family he has to provide for. Why should he not ask what he might be entitled to if things do not work out the way he wants? OP everyone is different as to whether they come alone or not depends what works for you as a family. If money is an issue I would personally think it easier if you came on your own and found a job first. You could stay in shared accommodation until you got a job then find a rental for family to move into. Good luck whatever you decide Edited April 14, 2014 by dxboz

Not how it came over to most of us..... maybe he should read the information he was provided with his visa approval to see what he is entitled to... ali
Perhaps the OP just worded the question badly.
