Hi all.

i am new to this forum and was just wondering about the driving instructor route to get into WA.

My hubby @ I don't have any of the required skills to get a visa, but heard that driving instructors were wanted. Is it worth training for this as a visa option?

any advice would be greatly received. Thank you :unsure::unsure::unsure:

You need to see if the occupation is on the skills in demand list http://www.migration.wa.gov.au/skilledmigration/Pages/Occupationsindemand.aspx each state has their own state list. Do remember that jobs can be taken off the lists also. Generally, for any of the PR visa's there has to be a skills assessment and one of the criteria would be x amount of years experience (varies with occupations).

Judging by the standard of driving out here, I'd guess that they don't have any!!!!!!!!, so fill your boots.

Hi, It is on the list, i have checked as my hubby has the qual. I was applying as Project Administrator but it was removed in November (sad times) I have a question though.... is it automatically available on a 489? I have looked at the criteria and it say 186, 187, Skill Select and 457visas.

That probably means it is schedule 2. Which would mean you would need an offer of employment for a contract lasting a minimum of 12 months to be able to apply for state sponsorship. It may be worth speaking to a migration agent to clarify.

Hi, yes we have also looked into this for WA. You need a job offer or can prove 3 current vacancies (not sure how to prove this apart from save any vacancies we find as evidence). You would however need a certificate III or IV qualification which a UK ADI does not qualify for. The only way we can see around this is to visit WA and sit the Cert IV qualification over there whilst on holiday - which we have looked into and is do able. In this case you would also be applying as an Australian Driving Instructor. Good luck and let me know if you find out anything else.
