Bibbs
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die. Or in all seriousness. Driven my car on the Nurburgring, flown a glider, bungee jumped, cage dived with sharks, lost money I couldn't really afford in Vegas, been under Niagara falls, rode a snowmobile across frozen lakes, been dog sledding in Lapland, swam with dolphins, tripped on acid, That's the stuff that sticks .. Been to the pyramids Scuba dived the red sea seen the iguazu falls got altitude sickness been on safari in Africa worked and travelled in some amazing countries with some inspiring people had 3 amazing and incredibly frustrating children Sailed around the Whitsunday islands seen waterfalls on Ayers rock heard and felt the sand squeak at cable beach fished for piranhas with a line and raw meat whilst standing waist deep in the water we were fishing I am sure there is more! Rossmoyne
Wow Odies you certainly got my old brain cells working overtime on that question...... not sure where to start or how long the list will end up, but here goes..... go pour a glass of wine and "when you are sitting comfortably, I will begin"...... as they say on "Mothers Hour"!!! My first trip to Paris in 1965 with 4 friends... all of us aged 17 and we thought we were the bees knees and so sophisticated, especially as we flew there and back ... first flight for us all, dressed in our Carnaby St gear! Beatles concert in 1964... sat in the front row and almost fainted when Paul smiled at me! Travelling across Australia from Perth to Melbourne in 1967 when the train was run on different guage rail in each state so having to change trains a few times along the way. Took 4 days and it really brought home to me how huge this country is. Working for the UN in 1971 in Papua New Guinea teaching secretarial skills within the insurance industry to indigenous teenage girls. The difference between the culture and way of life of Australia and a third world country on the cusp of being self-governing was so eye opening and changed my perceptions of people and life forever. 1972 attending an insurance industry dinner in London and being sat between Roger Moore and Sean Connery..... still get the heart flutters just thinking about that evening! I wasn't supposed to be there but I was doing temp work and the PA I was replacing was too sick to attend.... bonus for me! 1976 on honeymoon and sat in the front row at the London Palladium at a Cliff Richard concert and me and hubby were asked to go back stage after the concert to meet him. Was initially totally dumbstruck but Cliff is so gorgeous and natural and the 15 minute chat session went way too fast. The pregnancies and births of my two children as I had major girlie health issues and never expected to become a Mum. Finally returning to live in WA in 1991 after a massive emotional migration journey..... that eucalyptus smell as we got off the plane got to me and I almost kissed the ground. Holidaying in Bunbury with my bestie... got up pre-dawn to go to Koombana Bay ... we were in the water as the sun rose and a Dolphin swam between us and around us for 5 or 10 minutes.... cannot describe the feeling... just so amazing... then a few minutes later she came back with her calf.... such a small calf... and she and her calf swam with us and kept nudging us for a good 10 minutes..... She looked at me so many times and I felt her looking into my soul... this is probably the most memorable experience I have ever had... My daughter's wedding. Her Dad and I both gave her away... she wore a gown I had made and looked beautiful... a perfect day with her brother as Groomsman.... will never forget it. The day I retired..... my employer organised a massive morning tea for everyone I had worked with over my 21 years in Dept of Ed. I was so emotional and blown away by the hundred plus people who attended that I burst into tears during my speech and couldn't complete all I wanted to say. Everyone present were so surprised as I am normally the person who has something to say at every occasion..... I still tear up when I think of all the lovely cards, messages, speeches that were made about me. Told you it would be a list and a half Odies.... now waiting for other stuff to happen to add to that list....
