Rachael Bhatti
Hi everyone i am new to this site and hoping for lots of help and information, I am hoping to move in the next 12 months. I am applying for my registration and license then going to apply for a job and hopefully get the 457 visa. Do i have to do the English test? thanks Rachael
verystormy
I believe that medical proffessionals do require ILETS. Have you considered going through the PR route instead?
ali
I would strongly recommend the PR route, you may find that on job adverts it says that preference is given to Citizens and PR holders. If you have children, there is also school fees from 2015, if you don't like your job you don't have the easy freedom to move around, and you may be denied training opportunities or chances to move to other areas because of the temporary status. Rachael Bhatti
Thank you for the advice I thought I had to have 2 year there before applying for PR. I had a woman ring me from the DOH in wa she said I would need a 457. confused.com haha Rachael
ali
You can apply for a PR visa from the UK and come out on that - we did
verystormy
It might be worth speaking to a good migration agent. Go Matilda will do a free initial assessment

If you want to move permanently, forget about the 457 visa, go straight for skilled migration.
Matt&beck
Hi Rachael, Im also a midwife going about getting registration/visas sorted. The lady from wa government who rang me said they do sponsor on 457's but she didnt mention how often etc. I am going for PR anyway but said I was willing to go on a 457 initially if they wanted some one sooner so she added that to my notes. Im going to apply for the AHPRA because you can apply for that without IELTS while Im awaiting my test (couldnt get on one until mid/end may) and then will put in the ANMAC as soon as I get the test results, that way I can add the AHPRA to my CV while Im awaiting the whole long process of ANMAC! Its a complicated paperwork exercise and expensive too, but Id rather have the PR than a 457 so that I have freedom and the schooling wont be quite so expensive (I have 3 kids!). Hope that all made sense, Beck
