House to de-clutter - car boot sales

Congrats. We've just gone through that stage and come out the other end. Took 4 months in total. I found it quite stressful. I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

We originally bought tickets in January for just over £500 each but the flight was cancelled last week. We booked again with Singapore for £2400 for all four of us. 3 adults and one child ticket. We're flying from Heathrow on 31st of July. It's worked out better because we leave at the same time but arrive in Perth 3 hours earlier. We found those with Netflights online.

that's not too bad £600 /person. I think we will leave booking the tickets until we definitely know the house is going to complete!! then a trip to Austria, Spain before heading to the southern hemisphere.

I just hope we are doing the right thing!!!!

I hope ours does not take 4 months!!! we intend being in Currambine soon after 14th July. Our buyers chain are completing now so hopefully everything should be plain sailing on our house

the buyers have sold their house and the chain is starting to complete now. Our buyer has options to move out of his house before he moves into ours, he is trying to push us for completion by the end of June because the week after we have the tour de France for two days in our town. We are happy to go with that date because I want to climb the Ahorn Mountain in Austria and visit friends in Spain and I may still be working until the first week in July.

The nice thing is, it is Easter Monday, I have had friends round for dinner, now it is just me and the wife and we are both happy knowing we have sold the house and very soon will be starting a new adventure down under. Our friends who have been with us today have family who live in secret harbour.

Any way I hope you Perth Poms are a socialable bunch because Myself and My wife enjoy a good party, BBQ, drinks etc

Hi Stu - we are in the same position in West Yorkshire - Great news on selling but feeling a bit in limbo untill the exchange and feeling excited but worried we re doing the right thing - ekk ! Do you know where you want head to in Perth ?

Hi Louise,

we have a rental arranged from 14th July in Currambine, we stayed there last year on a visa validation trip and in 2012 we stayed in Mullaloo. We do like Currambine or Burns Beach area so will probably end up buying in that area - but never say never!!!!

where are you heading to? when do you intend making the move? where abouts in WY are you based?

We got our visas validated in 2012 too and stayed in Mandurah then. It was a lovely place but we felt a bit too far out and thought we d try for something around the Joondaloop area to start with / hope to be out by mid June. We are in Holmfirth nr Hudds - which is buzzing at the moment with the Tour de France coming through in July - at least that ll be our compensation if we re not in Perth by then!

We should be out there shortly after you and Joondalup isn't too far from currambine. You never know we could be on the same flight out there.

We have 2 days for the Tour de France. They are finishing here one day, then starting here the next day, so everywhere fully booked, roads will be closed.

Think yourselves lucky, we had 4 to sell and I booked the flights before any went on the market.

1 gone

1 due to complete in 2 weeks, this is the one we live in but we're selling to the in-laws so there should be no issues

1 under offer, to a mate so as long as he gets the mortgage we're fine

1 no interest what so ever, but we're moving into in next week. Maybe keep it and get something out of this growing housing bubble.

And we're in West Yorks too, Halifax to be more precise!

haha I wish, all 4 are in Halifax pal, worth next to nowt. It was a long term plan to build a portfolio for my retirement, the recession kicked my backside on the property side of things. Now I'll be in Perth with a MASSIVE mortgage but at least the sun will be shining!

We accepted an offer on our house today! You're all well ahead of us though, I haven't even done IELTS yet :( apart from that I'm ready to put in skills assessment. We are going to stay with family till we go though, so we can spend some time with them. They will be more than ready for us to go to Oz by the time visas come!

House number 2 completes next Friday and I've just had word the the buyers for house number 3 have been approved for their mortgage so everything is moving sweetly and the timing couldn't be much better!
