Desertrose1981
We are a family of 5 who are in the early stages of planning a move to Perth. The biggest concern at the moment is how we would get visa's. My husband would in the beginning be working out of the country on a rotation basis until he could find a permement job in Perth. Is this possible or would we not be eligible for residence visa's. Any advice would be much appreciated.
nikkiwd
what are your occupations and are they on the skills shortage list (sol)? check on http://www.immi.gov.au if you aren't sure, there is also a visa wizard which should help to see if you are eligible for a visa. Thank you I will have a look at these. He is a qc consultant in oil and gas industry. I'm a nursery nurse by wont e looking for work right away until my youngest a bit older. He had visited Perth through work and there seem to be many suitable jobs for him but without a visa it looked unlikely any of the companies would sponsor him to come over. Think the best route would be for us to get visas first and him continue with his rotation job overseas until he found something in Perth. He thinks that his job may come under the auditor job in the sol list.
Zebradeb
Visa Wizard and immi.gov.au website is the best starting place. For a definitive answer try a registered migrant agent, such as go matilda. You can have an initial chat which may help you to steer your next pathway. All the best. verystormy
The first thing to do is check the two lists - SOL and CSOL. If his occupation is on the SOL, then the next thing is to see if you can pass the rest of the process - age, no major medical issues, the skills assessment for your husband. If it is only on the CSOL, then the first thing to do is see if WA or any other states are sponsoring it as occupations on the CSOL need either state or business sponsorship. State is by far the better option.
Desertrose1981
Can't find his occupation on either list. Although I wonder if it couldn't be fall under a few other categories I seen on the list. He has called a migration agent this morning and is waiting for a call back. Hopefully there is a way for us to obtain a visa as there were plenty of suitable jobs when he visited perth. Thanks for all your help. Thanks for all your help. You do need to find an occupation on the list, there is not much the forum can do before you have identified one. If you think there are some options, then note down the numbers and names and then look them up on http://www.immi.gov.au and you will find a short wrote up of each. The agent could help you with this too.
