bwatt99 Posted May 4, 2014 Report Share Posted May 4, 2014 Having been in the offshore industry in uk for so long and never having to pay for the offshore training,paid by company i was wondering is this something you can claim back in tax,i was told on other courses that they can be claimed back on tax,like white card and msic card all of which i really did not want to be paying for but did to help find work,anyone know about the offshore training? Give me a break! Posted May 5, 2014 Report Share Posted May 5, 2014 My OH has had all his training paid by both the companies he's worked for here. No really sure you can claim tax back if you've done it off your own back. I'd ask an accountant though if you want a definitive answer. You just need to be able to show that the expense was incurred in the course of gaining or producing assessable income. Why do you say it most likely cannot be claimed back? He works in the offshore industry and it's an offshore training course - can't see why there wouldn't be a nexus between the training and work.
