pearcen
Not sure if this is the right forum, but what the hey. I'm a bit of a podcast fan, so does anyone listen to any Australian based podcasts they can recommend? Any subject whatsoever. Also, from looking around this site and PomsinOz and across the Internet, I can't see any expat based podcasts catering to the things people post here. Does anyone think there is a place for a regular audio podcast for either Perth based expats, or even covering the whole of Aus? I'm thinking it may be another way to get migration or Perth based questions answered, promote things, have some fun out to people who are either in Perth already or are thinking of coming over. I've made a few podcasts in the past so creating them isn't necessarily the issue, it's more: is there enough content and experts to answer questions to keep it going and is there a listenership out there? Any thoughts?
portlaunay
On the one hand I think it's an awesome idea, especially for those starting the journey. I can imagine people listening to informative podcasts on their daily commute when they might not be able to access PP. However, are podcasts really that popular? I haven't listened to any since I subscribed to Adam & Joe in the UK and that was many moons ago. I don't know anyone who listens to them anymore but I'm hardly in touch with 'the people' so I could be very wrong. Also, what you have to consider about WA is that, technologically, it might be a teensy wee bit behind the tech you're used to. That may work in your favour, podcasts may not yet have been discovered here. When I started work at Fiona Stanley on an IT project I was told by the team leader that some areas of health are still using Windows '96 Do you see what I mean? It's the old Wait Awhile thing again with that side of the country. Podcasts are still a pretty big thing as far as I'm concerned anyway. Subscribed to loads of BBC ones and comedy and tech ones which keep me going. As for this idea I'm glad you think it is a good one even if it may not have the legs to start or even keep going. I think it would need a few experts in various fields (employment, visas, housing etc), and by that I mean people with experience are experts. If there is a desire for one and once I land in Perth and am reunited with my kit I can look to get something together, get some questions and answers, and see how we go. Always happy to try and fail than not bother at all.

They can't be that behind the tech curve.
Bibbs
There was a Perth based one, but it was pretty poor. I just don't think they had enough to talk about for an hour every few days.. "Love Perth / Hate Perth" .. Seemed to be just a load of young guys having a whinge. I did listed to a few comedians (Eddie Ifft, Brian McCarthy) but got bored and have gone back to reading a book on the train.
