Keith
Having had a bit of trouble with IELTS exam and reading other posts I've found N.Z to be a far easier option of gaining a visa as requirements are a lot lower for IELTS exam and thought I would try to get some feed back and advice. Positives and negatives from both destinations?

Positives and negatives from both destinations? Don't know about IELTS difficulty but we love NZ from the scenery to the people. Our hearts say NZ but our heads say oz just because I think we would struggle in NZ due to it being expensive and having low wages. Don't get me wrong it's gonna be hard in oz but we have more of a chance there, plus the better weather.
Keith
That's the thing we watch the shows on the t.v and it looks a lot like the u.k which is a good thing I suppose, but the dream is to be walking distance from the sea with the sun out all the time I've had enough rain to last me a lifetime ha! I hear of people who have taken 5 IELTS exams and still no further on in the process and nearly £1000 down on the bank balance were as N.Z can become a dream a lot sooner all be it with a lower pay packet! It's the quality family time we crave the most and the soon we can archive are new life the better! Edited May 11, 2014 by Keith

Keith
Yes I have had tuition before my last IELTS which I took on Saturday I feel it went well but won't know for sure until I get my results. I was just thinking ahead as I have met people who have took the IELTS numerous times and thought it may be wise to think of a plan B in the worst case scenario. As I have said we just want that quality time together as a family that we currently do not have due to long working hours I barely get to see my 3 yr old as I leave for work before she wakes and sometimes I don't get home until after bedtime. bensdad
Not to put a damper on it but I work more hours in oz than I ever worked in the uk and if your working in Perth CBd unless your near the commute is awful. With regards to the ielts best advice I can give is say what you see. Do not assume. Remember the test is designed for people whose English is a second language. Good luck you'll be fine. Positives and negatives from both destinations? Go and sit the exam in India, they don't seem to have any problem passing, and they still can't speak English when they get here
Stefan
I had the NZ/Perth choice. I failed my first attempt at IELTS by 0.5 on the reading part and I was pretty P'd off at that as I had a 9 for speaking, 9 for writing and 8.5 for listening and 7.5 for reading of course. That temporarily, read almost permanently put my Perth plans on hold and I then had a look at Wellington in NZ. I had a couple of interviews and it all looked pretty promising but I just wasn't happy as I saw NZ as a fall back and although I know NZ is an amazing place and Wellington in particular ticked a lot of boxes, the climate was just too close to home and the fact that I visited Perth last year and fell in love with it just made me slightly unhappy. I have absolutely no doubt that if I ended up in Welly I'd now be typing this differently and with a smile on my face. However, things took a different turn and I was offered a permanent job with a sponsored visa in Perth so that's where we are heading, and really very happy with that. So for me I knew NZ was the easier option to get in, but it wasn't Oz. I think if I'd never been to Perth, I'd feel myself incredibly lucky and honoured to have been able to settle in NZ. That probably hasn't helped, but I thought I'd share it with you. Regards Stefan
Keith
That's exactly how we feel about the hole thing, you can't get motivated about going to NZ when that wasn't the dream life we planned, my wife would love the climate in OZ and to travel all the way to NZ and leave all the family and are friends for what could be a lonely life with the same weather doesn't add up, I'm made up for you to get the job offer and have your dream back on track, fingers crossed that my results are enough to carry on are visa process and get out there ASAP!
