Slight glimmer of hope on the job front....

OH saw an advert on Seek.com for a job south of Perth and so on Sunday evening we replied to the advert with a covering letter and attached his CV and thought nothing more of it as we have replied to 2 other adverts this way and had no reponse.

Monday morning OH got an email asking inviting him for a telephone interview! Interview confirmed for 7am on Thursday - result!

Even if he doesn't get the job it is heartening to know that the work it out there.

good luck SaffanZimbo's OH! hope it all pans out well and as you said good to hear there is some work out there....

my OH has seen a job he's interested in which is excellent money and includes relocation costs, however it's in Brisbane.......certainly wouldn't write it off out of hand if it means we get to Aus!

That's fantastic, thanks for posting. We are in the same boat. I have a 457, coming over in sept and hoping my husband can secure a job before we go too. Feels like less risk! You mind me asking which field your OH works in?

OH is a Fitter (Maintenance). He is really hoping to avoid having to do FIFO but beggars can't be choosers...

I dont know what impression you have of FIFO work but its actually harder to get a FIFO job than a local job. You cant just walk onto a mine site.

hmmmmmmmmmmm, local job in Perth $70k/year if you are lucky, FIFO job $120k+, things have slowed down on the FIFO front considerably.
