Charlton44
Hi my name is Luke, I am a fully qualified electrician currently living in the UK. I am coming over to Perth on the 19th August and would love to continue working as an electrician. I am very aware that my British qualification (NVQ Level 3) will not allow me to work and to be paid at electricians rates in oz. I am coming out on a working holiday visa, with the intent on making the move permanent if I fall in love with the place like so many of my friends have done. I would like to work as an 'electricians mate' or 'improver' and would relish the opportunity if it comes along. I have been reading about the work opportunities in Perth and realise the mining side of things has cooled down a lot , but have also read that perth plans to build around 30,000 homes a year in attempt to fix the housing shortage in WA. When reading this I couldn't help but think there must be a demand for new build domestic electricians. I have a vast amount of experience in wiring, 2nd fixing and testing new build homes over in the UK. If anyone who reads this forum is an electrician in Perth, and would like to give me the opportunity to work with them, please get In contact ASAP. I fully intend on making my move permanent if the work opportunities are not too hard to come by. I have been in contact with a firm called Skill shortage solutions and they will work with me to get my Australian A grade licence if I decide to make the move permanent. I have a lot of experience in all aspects of the job, including PTS rail work, industrial re-furb and new build work, commercial shop fitting, domestic rewires, domestic new builds (housing and flats), substation rewires, school amendments, testing and inspecting, and rail signalling. I was lucky enough to get a very good apprenticeship with EDF Energy from the moment I left school. This gave me a wide variety of experience and I was hugely competent before my time. I'm extremely hard working and have always been a stand out electrician for every firm I've ever worked for. Please please please contact me if you are looking for extra labour and are willing to take on someone who is highly reliable, good at his job and works very hard!!! Take this as an opportunity to find the right candidate to possibly take your company a long way into the future!
Nic964
Hi you may be unlucky applying this far in advance of you arriving, but keep trying. Local websites, including Gumtree are great source for local work, may not be top pay, but if your flexible, then there's work here. Yes there are lots of building work going on here, large new estates are being built all over. We live near Kwinana, and drives by 4 or 5 within a 10K radius. Best of luck Nick

Best of luck Nick Thanks nick, I will apply using gum tree then and see if I get much luck that way. I had a mate who was over in Perth for 2 years and said he gained employment tby advertising through gum tree, so it must be a popular way of getting work. Cheers for the tip though
