Car Insurance

Recommended Posts

Good Evening all,

I have a question and can't seem to find an answers for ( or i may have missed it). I have worked in Car/Home Insurance in the Uk for 5 yrs nearly, I am aware the Insurance side of things are much different I would just like to know how much different, what the work patterns are like. I worked for LV and was very child friendly and an excellent company to work for. I mean flexible around childcare and also term time contracts were available, is this something employers embrace? We can also pay for tax free childcare vouchers is this something you are aware of also, as you can see lots of questions.

We are due to emigrate in November, apologies for the short post, I am new at this ..............

Thanks

Debbie (wife of Dan Gridstar)

I don't know about your line of work. Regarding term time contracts, you could possible get a casual contract or part time hours it's something you'd have to negotiate during an interview process. I haven't really looked into it, but honestly haven't heard of great flexibility for term time.

Hi Ali,

Thanks for your comment, I was working in service (customer care). Changing policies if needed and advice given with their insurance questions. I gather the tax disc covers third party only insurance premiums?. I really am looking forward to having a great career just need some help .

Also nursery and childcare cost over her are astranomical! LV do a really good discounted deal we pay towards child care vouchers and we get it tax free so helps us with the cost of childcare as over here it is really expensive so helps with the cost. Do you do the same thing with Childcare?.

Thanks for your response apologies for the amount of questions, we have lot to learn and find out in the next six months so apologies in advance.

Okay, "Rego" is like the Tax disk. It's a yearly thing and it's done on the weight of the car (I think). It includes 3rd party insurance.

No MOT, but if the police see you driving something that looks knackered, they give you a canary / yellow sticker. This is a defect notice, and you have a week to take your car 'over the pits' for an MOT. They check everything (tyre sizes, mud flaps, window tint, oil leaks, emissions) and you need to sort these, and go again till you pass.

Most people will have other insurance, (fully comp). It's a lot simpler than the UK (I insure my car, anyone over 25 can drive it, no NCB, no annual mileage etc.). If you have a car loan, it's usually a requirement (so if you have an accident, the load company get the cash back).

Most insurance comps are over East. GIO / SGIO I think have places in Perth.

Each company is different, so you'd need to speak to them about child care. I doubt anywhere here will be as easy as what you have now.
