travelchic
Hi all. Just after a bit of advice. I want to buy a camera. I want something easy to use and reasonably compact. I don't really want to pay more then £300. Any recommendations of which camera to buy and whether to buy it in the UK or Australia. Thanks. Debs. JMG79
Hi Buy in the UK, when we were on our reccie I found camera expensive in oz, I would say that depends on what you want to do with it, Take pictures obviously bet there are a few other considerations. Indoors outdoors, lighting conditions, actions shots, i.e. kids running around For example, if you’re the outdoors type and wanting to go to the beach may be worth looking at something that is water resistant. We were looking at cameras before Christmas I wanted to down size from a digital SLR, but the wife wanted a simple compact camera she could point and shoot and wasn’t going to get smashed to bits when im taking up mountains. I looked at the following models: Nikon Coolpix AW 120 Fuji Film XP70 series of cameras Olympus Tough TG850, They ticked all the boxes for me, but wife could not stand them We ended up getting a Nikon S3200 purely because my wife liked it, easy to use and she was comfortable using it. Now it sits in her bag and goes everywhere with her and it cost just over £100 (I still haven’t smashed it in the mountains). I would just go to Jessops or Currys, or any other camera retailer, knowing what you want the camera for and see what they have got, have a play with them and get what feels right for you!! The reason I say that is I used to sell cameras, people would come in and buy a camera their friend had and trying and bring it back a couple of weeks later because they didn’t like it! don’t tell them you want to spend up to £300 as they will sell you a £300 camera!!! What ever you buy, will have a new model released in 6 months time and be out of date anyway. Also when you have decided on the model you want, just check on line before you buy, you may save £50 or so. travelchic
Nice one. Cerberus1. That camera has wifi. How cool. Don't have to mess about. Can just send my pics online. On my camera lol. Porty, I like the look of the NIkon Camera but as JMG says will have to go and have a little play around. Nikon seems to be the camera thats advertised the most here at the moment. My last camera was a Fujifilm which was ok but not great. My son borrowed it to go on holiday with his mates and was pushed in the pool with the camera in his pocket. So i've been using my phone camera which is pants. Debs
