<Dan>
In the UK we call it a CV, other people ive heard said it can be called either a CV or Resume, but what should it be? I need to write mine but having only ever done UK style ones, what should I look out for?
verystormy
I call it a cv, yes some call it a resume, but people understand both so it doesn't matter. I have never changed my cv to some Australian style. In fact, having employed a lot of people here, I have never seen this Australian style people talk about. ali
I haven't seen a particular format. My only tip is that here some jobs (particularly health .. but others also) may have a selection criteria. It is best to address this separately writing something about each criteria in order to demonstrate your skills by giving examples. If you don't address the selection criteria (which is used to short list), they will try to find information from your CV - this is difficult as often in CV's we just list the skills/tasks and they're looking for demonstration. If they don't feel the criteria has been sufficiently addressed then you don't get short listed.
Bibbs
To make my CV Australian style, I removed "Curriculum Vitae" at the top and put "Resume", and then I removed that too as it's bloody obvious what it is. I then added ", UK" to the address of any company I worked for. I then updated my Perth address and put my new mobile number on. But I have a slight advantage that I already had Perth schools, and Australian nationality on there. Then when I emailed it to companies, I wrote a covering letter saying I was back in Perth and why they should give me the job.
Nikkis2000
Other than changing my details I pretty much left mine as it was. I did add a brief one-line description as to what each company did. I saw a tip somewhere that advised doing this as Aussie recruiters wouldn't necessarily know what the companies. Then is occurred to me me that that's actually true of any recruiter anywhere!
