kibanje
Am in the process of booking flights and am wondering whether to do a single or a return. Would you say (in general) it is cheaper to buy return uk/perth/uk or perth/uk/perth. We have family back in the uk so imagine we would want to come back to visit within the year. Many thanks. Deb
If you are doing a return then you need to put in the date .If you did a open one then I would of thought it would be expensive We where going to do that then we thought if Oh is working and can not get time off work, also people recommend not to go back in the 1st year. Think most do a one way.
ali
We did a one way - 7 and a half years and we still haven't travelled back to the UK. Good point about being able to get holidays just when you want them too
kibanje
So we are booked! We stopped procrastinating and bought the tickets last night - heading out 25th sept!!!! Now to get on with the massive 'to do' list. Have some moving companies coming in next week to quote. Feeling a mixture if joy, excitement and a little bit of fear of the unknown.... travelchic
Did you get the one way or the return?
kibanje
Went for the one way option, we could have done a return but it would have cost £150 to change the date of travel and as there are 3.5 of us the cost would have added up! nikkiwd
you only get the extra baggage allowance if you have one-way un-validated pr visa as well.
steven_gers
How do you book the extra baggage allowance with Emirates? I've had a look on the website but it doesn't mention anything about it,
nikkiwd
not sure about emirates, I emailed singapore and asked and they confirmed an extra 10kg was allowed per person.I printed the email and took it when checking in just in case they questioned it at the check in desk. kibanje
We are flying with eithiad and apparently you don't get anything extra but having said that the person I spoke to didn't really seem to know very much as she kept having to put me on hold to ask questions so think I might try again on Monday - might get lucky but if not am hoping 100kg between us will suffice! Hi! I'm looking to book with Etihad in late September too but I'm waiting for them to call me back to answer 2 questions - firstly, to change the flight date is it £135 per person or per booking? Secondly, are we entitled to an increase in luggage allowance as we're validating a permanent visa. I couldn't get through to their Manchester call centre today so posted on their Facebook page. They've messaged me to say someone will call me back so I'll let you know what they say. Does it say anything about changing the flight date in the information you've received by any chance? If it's £135 per booking to change flight date I'll book early next week for 19th September even though we haven't got our visa yet, then if we don't get it in time it'll be worth £135 to change the date. What part of Perth are you heading to? Have you got jobs lined up? Very Exciting!! xx

Oh is looking for a job but I am going to wait till we are there so can try and settle the children first, we have a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old. Still trying to decide on where we are heading, I have a long, long list of possibles. Where are you heading to?
travelchic
How do you book the extra baggage allowance with Emirates? I've had a look on the website but it doesn't mention anything about it, I phoned emirates on Thursday to ask. They don't offer any extra luggage. It's 30kg economy. But you do get 30% discount on extra luggage providing you request it 24 hours before flying. Debs
