Guest darcy
I'm 17 and migrated to South Perth about a year ago with my family. I went to school and found it really hard to settle in, which resulted in me moving back to the UK for around 6 months until I seen sense and came back, I decided to do a TAFE course which I am currently completing however I hate it and I am beginning to regret not going back to school to complete year 12. I really want to go to university and I'm not sure how to go about completing year 12 or getting the right qualifications to get into uni, any advice would be appreciated ? The Frets
Hi Darcy, can I just say that if your only on a PR visa you will have to pay Uni fees as you go a long or even up front, you can "hex" them if your a citizen. But to be sure I would speak to the uni you want to attend they will be able to advise you better than me. I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope you are able to achieve everything you want. All the best Jane
ali
Have a look at Tuart College who do a year 12 programme and also Uni entry pathways - have a read and then give them a call, they'll be able to point you in the right direction or advise you - you're not going to be the first of last to consider a late Uni entry, and sometimes it takes people a little longer than others to know what they want to do. If you're PR then you pay domestic fees Good Luck

My son will have just completed his AS levels in the UK but has been offered a place at the Notre Damme University in Freemantle on a foundation business course for 1 year. as a PR visa holder we don't have to pay the international rates but we do have to pay the fees up front. just search the various universities and see if they offer foundation courses and what the pre-requisite entry requirements are. verystormy
The first thing to do is think about what you want to study. Different unis will each have different pathways for people for different courses. Once you know what you want to study, then I would make an appointment to go and speak to each of the unis that offer it and be honest and upfront and go through your options. Also, question them about the course and what is involved. I would also do research on the employability of people from particular unis and particular courses. There are many of us on here with degrees in a range of subjects that can help. One last thing to remember. Dont despair if it means it might be hard to do now. A year or two is not a long time and it is better to be well prepared than not.
