Nikkis2000
Bullsbrook is chepaer because it's further out and more rural than most suburbs. It has a very local feel to it and there is a nice community spirit. The town itself has most amenities - a bank, ATM, coffee shop, IGA, Bottle Shop etc. It is quiet and whilst there is a pub and a restaurant it is not party central so kids can get a bit bored. I can't speak for the schools, I guess the selection is limited but I haven't heard anything dreadful about the standard. Though very happy to be corrected on that! There are big development plans over the next few years. The growth plan is for the number of residents to increase from something like 7k to 15k in two years. With that will come other developments like bigger supermarkets etc. There is also talk of the Perth-Darwin highway finally starting in 2016 so by 2019 it should take about 30 mins into the CBD. Personally I love it round there. I have a real affintity for the place and don't care if it's a little further away from things and isn't close to the beach. Hence why we're building just up the road. If you like the quiet life you will like the Bullsbrook area. There is a good selection of housing as well, from older houses with a fair size garden, typical new builds (there is a huge devleopment going up on Chittering Rd at the moment), right up to lifestyle blocks of 5 acres plus. Just be aware that the further out of the township you go, the less services there are. You may find yourself on Septics and Rainwater tanks. Though I happen to be married to the owner of a very good Water Carrier company in the area - Just PM me for the details Hope that answers some of your questions? Maybe if you end up there we can meet at the Mean Bean for a coffee!
abc
Don't forget the massive Air Force base, low flying noisy aircraft coming & going at all times of the day & night!
odies
I have friends there who love it, they keep horses so need the extra space.
lozzachino
The air base concerns me a little but apparently its not big enough for the massive planes? my husband grew up in brize norton in oxfordshire so is not at all bothered by the prospect of air traffic, but i am a light sleeper! i do like the idea of the country, and being close to the swan valley and it just seems you get a lot more for your money in bullsbrook. thanks for the awesome reply nikki
Nikkis2000
No worries Lozzachino! As far as I am aware the base is mainly used for training. The cadets come on 6-8 weeks courses and start off in smaller aircraft and work their way up to bigger planes. Even the big planes still aren't exactly F15's though! They maybe do night training for a couple of the weeks. I think the biggest planes they've had there were the search planes that were looking for MH370. I guess it's like anything (busy roads, railway lines), you get used to them. To be fair the main residential bit of Bullsbrook is the other side of the Gt Northern Highway to the base so it's not like it's right at the end of your garden. The new development is halfway up Chittering Road so well away, and if you're thinking of a bigger block then you're further away again. There are a few houses (mainly on a road called Railway Parade) that do literally border the airfield so you may want to avoid these. To be honest you probably want to avoid them anyway, they are really old Fibro places in need of a lot of TLC!
Druid
Pearce Air Force Base is home to Pilatus PC9 single engine turboprop trainers & British Aerospace Hawk jets, and as we all know after the search for the missing Malaysian airline, it's big enough for large visiting aircraft
