SJT
Oh Porty I remember that conversation well. Deb, as a word of advice, get the most expensive one you can afford. We brought middle of the range, a Beefeater one, and after using it all summer every single day and most days still, hubby wishes we had got the next version up, something to do with where the flames come out (sorry this is a bloke's bit of equipment, so my terminology is not the best) as the next model was supposed to be easier to clean, Pete wishes he had listened to the advice he was offered, he just presumed it was the bloke trying to sell a more expensive bbq, and because Pete had used a bbq before did not take him seriously. BUT when you are using it every day for months on end, unlike the occasional weekend back in the UK, making it easier to clean, is quite a high priority. I suppose it is a bit like when you buy a new oven, the more it does for you, the better it is. I can't wait until we are in our new home and get a self cleaning oven. I am sick of cleaning out mine. Druid
Weber Q's are excellent
Walkabout
Another vote for the weber Q we have the family one with the higher lid and it has been brilliant!
portlaunay
And if you get the Q, make sure you invest in the hotplate and the roasting rack too. The Q is super easy to clean, roasts are fantastic on it as is brekkie.
Deb
Thanks everyone for their help it makes it easier when you get input. The old thread was great with plenty of receipt so be tying them out.
JasonM
I am glad I came across this thread and the link to the old BBQ thread, I would have been the typical bloke who wanted / needed the V12 BBQ I am like a moth to the lamp everytime I go to costco and see the big Australian style BBQ sitting there with all the gadgets and burner rings. I will certainly rethink what I get given the opportunity to come out. Love the recipe ideas for BBQ cooking and agree that a separate thread should be made as I am sure there are a few foodies on here.
Bibbs
Webbers are average at best, but the best known. Everdure are a lot better for gas, and get gas if you want to be 'Australian'.
