verystormy
Unfortunately it is now very difficult to get any sort of visa to stay permanent in Oz after a student visa. Even most uni student are not eligible. You could attempt a sponsored visa if you could find a employer willing to sponsor but that, to be honest would be close to impossible. The reality is you are likely to be going home. What I would research is how much of your studies are worth in the UK towards a aprentership and how much post aprentership experience you will need to be eligible for a skilled visa. jamestw
i dont think you have read my question pal. i am aware of the difficulty in getting a permanent visa for australia however im not asking about that, what my question was is if anybody has tried to get a graduation visa in the past was it it a difficult path to go down, what was involved with it etc. also it is not impossible to get on a 457 sponsorship visa if you work hard and do the right thing by your employer you will find doors will open for you aslong as you are working for a company that is able to sponsor people. verystormy
You may be eligible for a graduate visa http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/485.aspx#australianStudy However, as I mentioned it has no pathway beyond. No, it is not impossible to get a 457. But VERY difficult for trades. A college qualification without a full apprentership is going to be viewed pretty poorly by DIAC in a 457 application. Very few experienced carpenters with significant experience gain 457 due to the fact most are effectively self employed.
