Job interview by video conferencing - Fiona Stanley Hospital

I'm in the process for applying for a job at the Fiona Stanley hospital and the possibility of interview by video conferencing came up. The chap I spoke to, (let's optimistically call him "my new boss") said they'd just had their training and would ideally use it for the interview. I have absolutely no experience of video conferencing and I was hoping that someone may be able to give me a heads up for what to expect?

I have had a reasonable amount of interview experience in the past and I'm not too nervous about that part but I would love to know if there are any particular differences I should be prepared for?

Thanks in advance

It will just be a little like Skype but, depending on yours and their setup, will come through a monitor or TV. The main difference will be that you'll likely see the whole panel and they'll just see you. Depending on how good the connection it might be a little laggy so there may be a few pauses between responses. The main thing to remember is to answer their questions and then, once you've said what you need to say, stop and wait for their response even if it is a couple of seconds. Try not to move around too much and hold your gaze on your camera. Smile and relax and make sure your kids aren't running around, your windows are closed and there's little chance of noise pollution.

It will be fine, just be patient, the panel should be well aware of the potential barriers.

Best of luck to you.
