MrsM
Hi all, I've had a quick search, but not really sure what I'm looking for so was wondering if someone could help...? See on the Partner Visa 309/100, I wouldn't be classed as a PR until after the two year time is up. Does this mean I wont be able to apply for the basic documents like the transfer from UK to Aus drivers licence? A TFN? Just wondered as I technically wont be a PR....? Thanks in advance x
steven_gers
Hi MrsM, The partner visa is a 2 stage visa, generally if you have been living with ur partner for 3 years or 2 years and a have a child then you may get granted the PR Visa 100, if you do not meet the requirements for the 100 visa you will be issued the 309 which means you are entitled (what im led to believe) to everything the PR 100 would ve entitled too, You can certainly swap the uk licence to the OZ licence, get a TFN, medicare card etc, you may not however be entitled to "dole" money though but I might be wrong. MrsM
Thanks Steven - a fellow bear I see!! Lol. Yeah me and my husband have been together 7 years and have two daughters, so hopefully it speeds the second part - the 100 - up! Thats great about all the documents though. Was a little worried how it would work with me not technically being a PR. Thankfully I wouldn't be needing 'dole' money (well heres hoping!) I'm a homemaker, my husbands a welder, so hoping he goes FIFO. If not, I'd get a job. Nothing worse than benefits when they are not needed huh! Cheers again! And good luck for your move

And good luck for your move shhhh on the teddy bear! ha ha 7 years and 2 kiddies, you dont need to worry about the visa 309 you will be considered straight for the PR Visa 100, I've been married to my wife for 5 years and have 3year old with her and my CO told me she has put me down for the PR 100 as I meet all the criteria etc. so you will be the same. its just a long 8 - 9 months wait... but it comes in fast thou I'm nearly at the 8month mark. MrsM
It's defo a shhh at the minute anyway! Haha. Do they automatically just consider the 100 then? Yeah it will be a very long wait, but worth it I suppose! Where abouts in Perth are you all heading?

Yeah it will be a very long wait, but worth it I suppose! Where abouts in Perth are you all heading? yeah it would seem so, I only found out via my CO as when I submitted my application, she asked for a bit extra info like how I met my wife in a cocktail bar etc ha ha joking. I asked her when I would be issued my temp visa 309 as I wanted to head over to OZ and do some training to convert my qualifications, and she replied with I wasn't be considered for the 309 visa as I met the criteria for the PR Visa 100 and that it would be issued within 9months. So I guess you should be the same? I wasn't fully upto speed with the whole process and my CO was really good at emailing back and telling me how it works, eg she has a certain allocation each month for grants and I was just on a waiting list. I haven't spoke to my CO since April so hopefully it'll come through sometime soon. we are heading to Ellenbrook/Aveley as my wifes best friend stays there and we will stay with them until we find our feet. amd it's relatively close to my wifes mums house etc. what about yourself are you a south or north of the river family?
