Lou8670
Being a chocoholic I've been having to taste test Aussie chocolate as it's renound for not being great. So what chocolate have you tried in Oz and what would you recommend? If I try every last bar I'm going to get extremely fat!!! So I'll start... Lindt deserts are lush Flakes are ok, but more of a bar than a flake! Dairy milk sucks and that was always my favourite, especially as my Nan worked at Cadburys! M&M's don't taste any different to me Milky Bar is awesome... I have a bar of Smarties and Wonka caramel in the cupboard untouched... SJT
Since being here, we have accepted our chocolate fix needed to change. Hubby always loved Dairy Milk as well so he was very disappointed with the Dairy Milk here. We have completely changed what we eat, now it is sometimes a cherry ripe or Dairy milk mint bubbly, a box of favorites is nice as well. Someone has recommended Whittakers to us as well. Guest robc
Whittakers could put you off chocolate for life
Druid
Those Lindor balls that Lindt make beats everything hands down :notworthy:, or you could go to UK. Central and buy some Galaxy, that what the wife does

Deb
We love raspberry ruffles but not going to pay the price so cherry ripe come a close 2nd We also like the different flavour of Cadbury chocolate they are always on offer in IGA
rob-c
I went through a violet crumble phase, very nice Caramac is very good, double dip cherry ripe and those new ones with the goo in found some Cadburys with cashew and coconut, looked full of promise but wad yeaaarrr blahhhh
Arwen
Don't eat a massive amount of it so when I do I pay the extra at UK Central for either a Galaxy or a Wispa.
Akasully2
I thought choc was going to be a big problem. As it turns out we just buy cadburys wholenut or the like when on special offer (which seems to be most of the time) and find it pretty much the same. A lot of fuss about nothing! I must admit though, if anyone can call a TimTam a chocolate covered biscuit, they need their taste buds examined. Yuk!
odies
Lindt no different to me, kit kat is ok, turkish delight is ok. m and m no different, roses ok. I could go on as I could be a chocolate taster. I do find you somehow eat less chocolate or should i say I do, having the post office with all that chocolate on hand... verystormy
Don't eat a lot of it, but find the high cocoa 70% is fine. Also get the ones from the choc factory as a treat. Expensive but very good.
Ellen Hughes
We loved the dairy milk snack when we were over last year and also the Black Forest dairy milk. My hubby is a chocoholic too
Bibbs
When in the UK I used to get Cherry Ripes and Violet Crumbles sent out to me. Few suggestions :- The Margaret River Chocolate Factory has a shop in the city now. Down opposite the Moon and Sixpence. Check your local big shopping centre, mine (Morley) has a chocolate shop that sells all the imported stuff, so Hershies from the US and Galaxy from the UK etc.

j19jjr
I don't like American chocolate so I never eat it when on holiday, and was hoping that for the sake of my waistline that Aus chocolate would be the same lol
AmandaP
Have no fear - even if you don't like some of the Aus chocolate (I hear it has different additives because of the heat/melting issue), there are plenty of 'British lolly shops' about. Yep - you need to get used to calling sweets 'lollies'. At these shops you can get most of what your little heart desires, but at a premium of course. Some of them even sell weird stuff like Persil washing powder at ridiculous prices. Seriously - do people really not like Australian washing powder/liquid??! AND, most of the big supermarkets have a foreign section which often includes a few shelves of UK products (including mushy peas - ugh!). If you live in an area that is known to be quite pommie, like Kalamunda, Mindarie, etc. this section of the supermarket will be a little larger. You will probably eventually change your tastes though. My biggest one was Weetabix. Weet-bix over here just didn't cut it for me. Now I love Weet-bix and don't like Weetabix! But as for Vegemite - nup - never!!

Plimthing
well if you go to 'Decadent C's ', fantastic Aussie chocolate, near Mandurah, you will be suprised ! Well worth the trip, however if you are NOR, it may be a trek for you, but you could go and walk up and down the foreshore at Mandurah after to burn it off! Either that or have some Fish and chips and wash it down with a Pint of the black stuff and worry about the calories another day. There you go, something positive i have to say about Perth, keep this post safe guys, they don't come around often!
lozzachino
Cadburys black forest, if you can find it! Soooooo goooood but full of crap!

verystormy
Ah. Just as well we didn't bother lol. I will give you a couple of other spots nearby that are worth a visit if you haven't already. Edenvale in Pinjarra is one. Interesting to wonder round and have a look and the tea shop is very pleasant to have lunch at. Food isn't anything special, but just a nice place. Round the corner is the old farm school where Pom kids were sent. Interesting place. Called fairbridge If you haven't been to Dwellingup it is also worth a visit for the walking trails. We did the falls the other day which was nice. On the way back out of Dwellingup there is a fruit farm that is well worth ducking into. It is not maned so uses an honesty system but we go a huge back of apples, a big bag of lemons and a big bag of limes for $10. The lemons are stunning - cut one open to cook with and it filled the house with the smell.
