Well Keith has gone off to do his 3rd IELTS today and I feel sick with nerves for him. He is not confident at all think after the last 2 he's lost all belief in himself. I have reassured him that he just goes and does his best and that is all we can ever wish for. He did so well on the last one getting an 8, 8, 8.5 and the dreaded 6 he's had a few more sessions with the tutor and I so hope he does it this time he deserves it he's worked so hard bless him it's like torture this whole process, and the IELTS is the only thing we are waiting on now to put in our EOI, skill assessment came back all good on Thursday so we are good to go. The 13 days waiting for results are going to be a killer but we are going away for few days next week so hopefully that should take his mind off it.

Good luck to anyone else doing there ielts today or in the near future I'm rooting for you all

Michelle xx

Yeah I donno how he's feeling as I dont need to do that test since I've got a spouse visa.

but I really hope he passes! it'll be more frustration that'll get to him I guess.

dont understand why he needs this test anyway. he is leaving an english speaking country.

It is the frustration that gets to him, it's a stupid test and he's not academic at all he has always said if they tested me by asking me to put a boiler in I could do it standing on my head, and I agree he comes from a English speaking country he's got British passport was born here what more do they want!!!! But that's what we have do to get the points needed for the expression of interest so we are stuck so annoying!!!

Just got back from my IELTS thought it went really well but you just never know, another long day but got to meet some new people in the same boat, it was a lot more chilled out at Wrexham than Liverpool thinks its to do with the smaller numbers Wrexham can deal with compared to Liverpool! Thanks for all the well wishes from everyone!

Hope you've passed mate, I still remeber getting the email and seeing my results. I nearly jumped through the ceiling, scared the **** out of the lads that were eating their cornflakes in the canteen :biglaugh:

The elation was weird as it's only an English test but it opens up the next stage of the process so the relief is a real buzz!

All the best!

Mate,

I feel for you,I got my first IELTS results through yesterday from Leeds a couple of weeks ago. Average of 8,but I need 8's across the board! Oops S9 W7.5 R7 L8 so got to book another test. Like others have said the test is a bit daft for native English speakers and is geared more to a format than real life. I have been in my trade for 25years and spent the last 10 years running my own small business. So if you can deal with that and the worst recession in modern times, let alone Vat returns, quotes for customers, meetings with large companies etc etc. You are more than capable to look after yourself in the big wide world. But it is a hoop that we have to jump through so you just crack on and get it done. I have my skills assessment next Saturday and have no worries about that......because if my knowledge doesn't get me through then it's not what I'd want anyway.

OZ have put out there that they need skilled workers to help out in their country,we pay £20k to get our families out there with no guarantee of any work when we get there.........mmmmmmm if it's there we will take the opportunity but if they want to lose good English grafters because of a system that favours exam takers then so be it.

and relax.

good luck Keith you'll sort it

Beers out you read my mind Steven haha! It's daft and a little bit humiliating to prove your english skills by taking a test which has nothing to do with day to day life, I had to complete a 250 word essay on young people being allowed to drive and vote!!! And if I make a mistake it puts my visa back another couple of months, it's like torture not sleeping for two weeks but you don't get nothing for nothing hey!

It's a nightmare to have to go through all this and sole destroying, credit to you for taking it 6 times I get my results Friday so hope it's the last time I've got to go and do it , just to rub salt in the wounds to get in this country you only have to score a 4!!
