Craig6686
Well not been on for a while since getting to perth so though I would share my story so far. Been here 9 months now and me my wife and two little girls love the lifestyle. I started work a few days after getting here so no break for me, took us a while to find a decent rental and in the end we had to throw in bit of a bribe to get it. We are renting in ashby but a few months ago bought a plot of land in banksia grove and are building a nice big 4x2 right next to the bushes of the golf course something that we could of only dreamt of back in England. We had jump through many hoops through the governments key start loans which meant we only needed 2% and with the $10000 first home buyers grant it's cost us next to nothing the help we have had as been great. The slabs about to go down on the plot and are hoping for a Xmas move in. Meet some great people along the way everyone as been more than helpful if you have the right attitude. My wife is on her second job now she just found her dream job as she worked in the potteries back in stoke and now she works in the pottery play room in joondalup and teaches pottery painting in a night class as her skills are not common here, Winner for us. The kids go edgewater primary a great school where they have excelled so much since moving here. They know the Australian national anthem off by heart and don't sound anything a stokie anymore. Maybe a bit to whiny for me haha. It's been hard we all suffered the dreaded homesickness which we never though would happen but believe it does and ain't easy. The last 9 months have felt like a dream the summer was great every week down the beach now it's a tad cold but only at night. And to top it all off my brother and his wife plus 2 have just submitted there 189 visa to come stay in our new house once it's granted. Started to feel more relaxed and settled now hence this update. Good luck to everyone.
weaver
Good to hear that you have settled in and are doing so well. How do you find Perth city itself? Does it come up to your expectations? Sorry I am just desperate to get there myself so all news/information gratefully received

Roadhouse
Sounds great, yous have done really well. We arrive in just over 5 weeks and can't wait. My only worry is getting a job but I'll be applying for positions before we get there in the hope I can at least get an interview to give us hope. what do you do for work? I'm a quantity surveyor here in the north east and will be looking for a contract administrators job over in Perth. we have a 5 week holiday let in Baldivis to get us started while we look for a long term rental. Would love to look into building our own house so will explore the grant etc when we settle.

Craig6686
Thanks guys, Am a chippy. Well we had oatcakes for Xmas day breakfast before the obligatory trip to mullaloo beach. Plenty of stokie's here and when family visit they all bring oatcakes so we split um between us all but they only for special occasions. PNEnick
Hi Craig. I'm new to PP. Really enjoyed reading this. I'm a Preston lad heading for Perth with 4 kids (and wife) in October. We are hoping to settle in the Joondalup area with the aim to buy land and build our own place. So well done, you've shown me it can be done!
