LukeNukem
Hi. I've been told by my employer that they will nominate me for a 457 visa and pay the nomination fees, then I will have to pay the Visa fee for myself (around $1050) and any agent fees. Is this correct? Can they do that? I thought that the employer paid these fees. Can they do this?
Druid
It's a deal you negotiate with your prospective sponsor, basically it's how badly do you want to go to Australia versus how badly does your employer want you, I have friends that were sponsored over 100% paid including a relocation allowance! In my case, it was I paid for my portion of the visa fees and they paid there portion of the visa fees, but then I had an obligation to them for two years as well
ali
They don't have to pay. I think with the number of returnees, it's becoming an expensive visa for employers as if you decide to go home they have to pay your flight costs. It's not unusual now for employers to ask the potential employee to meet some costs.
Plimthing
My company paid for everything and a relocation allowance. They bonded me for 2 years for the relocation allowance but not the visa. The Bond detracts in value from 13 months in by 1/12 so I will be all free from the shackles of the flying kangaroo by aug 2015. So, unless something changes in that 14 months, thats when i will be going back to Blighty.
