How are Electricians finding Perth?

Hi All,

i have have been reading all your posts on here for a while and wondered if you could kindly give us some advice on a dilemma please! We are both 27 years old and are due to get married this summer. I went backpacking around Australia back in 2008-9 and really took Oz to my heart and have wanted to come back ever since. My husband to be is an Electrician and has been since leaving school, I understand that it isn't the easiest occupation when starting out due to all the retraining needed. I wanted to hear from any expat Electricians to see how you are getting on and if all the aggro is really worth it & how long it took. From reading up I predict it would take us a good couple of years to get back to the position we are here in the Uk. Here we both have good jobs, own our own home and are at the point where we can sell and upsize our house and start thinking about a family in a few years time or move to oz and eventually do the same. Obviously this isn't something you can decide for us but just any experience and advice you have would be much appreciated ?

Hello,

I'm a spark who came on holiday in Feb 2014, I was in the right place at the right time and was offered a job. I'm working towards getting the electrical licence. I'm lucky in the fact that I'm being paid as an electrician and having the course paid for me. I'm a permanent resident and have a wife and young son, if I was on TA wages then we probably couldn't survive out here unless my wife worked full time too (even then things would be tight). If you do come and your husband eventually gets his licence then the sky's the limit. Good things come to those who wait...
