stu4668
does anyone know the approximate costs for taking an additional suitcase on the flight (say an additional 20 or 30 Kg)
ali
Singapores website says $70/kg from UK to Aus - based on weight. http://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/travel-information/baggage-excess/ If you google the airline you're travelling with, you should get the prices

I could buy another seat cheaper and get the 30Kg hold luggage and 10 Kg hand luggage and then spread out across 2 seats!!! it doesn't seem right :ssign1:
Deb
I had some stuff that would not go in the case and priced it up to expensive. We left it with family and they posted it out that might be yout cheaper option.

stu4668
we have a 20ft container being packed this week, I think more clothes will be going in that and we will have to wait a little longer!!! travelchic isn't that only if you have a un-validated PR visa? we validated last October. SaffanZimbo
Our shipping company have given us the option of a 25kg carton free to Perth Airport. Speak to your shipping company and see if they will do a deal for a carton air freight.. The girls and I will be camping in the house for the 5 weeks before flying so the carton will be used for last minute items and excess luggage as we've already validated our visas so have the 23kg standard allowance. stu4668
I thought the standard allowance was around 30Kg (32Kg on Singapore Airlines website). I will just pack surplus clothes in the container and will have to wait for them.
Lynsey Nicolson
there is a code for emirates that gives you 45kg each when you book through the website directly. I got it when i opened a bank account with anz but its the same generic code that they give out so it would work even if you dont have an account. UKANZ09, it even gives a discount on the flight
steven_gers
I just done a quick comparison with the Anz code and its £63 more expensive using the code than it would be without the code, granted you get more luggage to take with you, but it would seem you are paying for it in someway. Although for 3 of us going we would get 30kg morr for £

As you said you get 30kg for £63 instead of $2100 on singapore.

stevie129
Has no one booked their flights using IOM ( International organisation for migration) ? I booked our flights couple of months ago with them even though we validated our visa at the beginning of this year. It was no problem. We payed about £550 each with 40 kg baggage each flying with Emirates in October. Back then that deal could not have been beaten anywhere!! Our container left a few weeks ago and we ended up putting a lot of our extra clothes in that too, the price ya pay for the container you might as well fill it right up :-). Plus you won't wait as long for your clothes coming if you do that rather than posting it could take a few extra weeks. hope you sort things!! Roadhouse
How do you let them know you have a PR visa. When I booked mine I just was given 30kg max You have to contact your airline direct, or your travel agent will do this for you if you wish. They will send you a standard form to explain as long as you have a clear pr visa you will be granted this extra allowance automatically at the airport. We printed this form addressed to us just incase we had a problem checking in :-)
