Visa applied for.......... Yikes

I've just joined this forum but just to say I've taken so much advice from this site and others, so thanks to all.

we did our EOI and 6 days later got an invite. We were overwhelmed as didn't think it would happen so quick. We have sent our police checks away today and have medicals booked for 2 weeks time.

its now getting scary as it's the big things that need sorted - house, cars, cats, money etc etc .

Any advice greatly appreciated - especially on pets and whether to put them through the travel etc!

Hi

i work in facilities management and my husband is an IT developer. We are planning to move to perth early next year, all being well. depends how long the visa takes then see how quick we can sell house and start job hunting :)

hows your our move going?

as you can see from my signature line, the visa came through quite quickly! we're off to Perth and Sydney in October and will know more after that....can't wait! I'm a midwife and OH is accountant :)

How exciting. Have you not decided where to settle yet?

We have family in Perth so it's some support for us if needed and also great to get lots of local advice.

its so scary but an amazing opportunity!

hoping for Perth, but happy to go wherever we can both get work initially- be quite nice to see as much of aus as possible.

ps welcome to Perth poms! we're generally a very friendly bunch xxxx

Woohoo! Another step closer! I'm at a similar point in the process and it's definitely a fine line between scared to death and utter excitement for me lol. We've sold the house already and my application for voluntary redundancy has been accepted (just awaiting leaving date). I can't really do much more without the actual visa now so I'm hoping it'll take 2-3 months from lodging so we can crack on.

One thing is for sure, it all feels very real all of a sudden.

Good luck, let us know how you get on x

Hi and welcome.

We are here to help.

With regard pets, lots of people bring them. There is an excellent company called pet air. If you give them a call they will advise on what is involved and costs and what you need to do. It is not a cheap process and hindered by the quarantine facility in Perth being closed - so they need to go through Sydney or Melbourne. But the plus is that the quarantine period has been vastly reduced.
