portlaunay
Anyone had one? How did it manifest itself and what did you do about it? Anyone go out and buy a Ducati or anything irrational? I feel an itch and it's becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

7cdb
My midlife started early with a Porsche at 37,had loads of fast bikes in my 20's and finished off with an MV Augusta Hung up up my leathers and did the big house thing, then got the car itch.....mmmm loads of nice toys along the way and all a total waste of money as I could of bought another house with the cash I wasted, reached 40 and got another Ducati after many years without a bike. Realised my balls had shrunk considerably since I was twenty something! Nowhere near quick enough.......sold it when we found out 'er indoors was pregnant. No toys now but enjoy being a Dad more than any Porsche turbo. although did blag an F458 Ferrari for the weekend earlier on this year and would sell the mrs for one of those:cool:
gar374
I hung up my leathers when my good lady was pregnant too. I was made redundant last year and then bought two Mazda MX5's. Just felt like a change. Now in the process of emigrating - could call that a mid life crisis I suppose. Or just feeling free to go for it now I've been made redundant. verystormy
Yep. Mine was early - aged 30. I simply flipped. I resigned from work suddenly one morning. Drove to Birmingham that afternoon to get a visa, booked a flight for that night and called my wife from Heathrow to say I loved her, but was moving to Thailand. Spent a long time in a beach shack getting my thoughts together. Luckily, she waited and was at the airport when I got home some months later. Plimthing
imported a vw splitscreen kombi from las vegas. Always wanted one, finally thought 'what the hell' and did it. It was transported on a trailer from south wales and sat on my drive for a few months in all its rust and splendour! Slowly restored it over 4 years. Sold it to come here.:censored:
portlaunay
Well I've never had money or toys and they've never really been of interest to me. My only indulgence has been buying furniture but now that the house has sold and we've bought a sensible car I've been inspired by Jack Olsen's 'Black Beauty' (There's a fantastic Youtube vid), and his awesome garage and think I'd quite like to invest in something that will occupy my time and give something back. It's either that or an adventure bike and a trip with friends 'across the top' I'm fortunate to be in this position and part of me also says, "be sensible, buy the land, think about the future"
SJT
My hubby's midlife crisis was moving to Perth, I am praying that is the end of it!!!
Bibbs
I think I've always been having one. I'm in my late 30's, no kids. Always spent my money on cars and toys. Never had a 'normal' car, started with a hot hatch, but then went to sports cars, big 4x4's and now a V8. Always been a hoon. Maybe my mid-life crisis was being sensible and buying a house a few years back?

cocolevi
My OH bought an Audi TT about a year ago, totally impractical for us as a family of 5, had it 6 months then sold it, he's done the bike thing a few years ago but now he's bought a T25 camper, at least we can use it but I do worry sometimes about what I will come home to find sat on the drive x:eek:
