Telephone Interview

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

So my husband applied for a job in January in Perth and today he has heard that he has a telephone interview in the next 3 weeks! VERY excited! They advertised locally and are offering a relocation package. We thought our Australia dream would have to be put on hold for a good few years due to the work experience required for me to get a skilled 189 visa so we've got all our fingers and toes crossed!

Sam :) x

Some tips for the interview.

Treat it exactly the same as a normal interview - including dressing up for it. Sounds silly, but it makes a difference in your voice

Do it standing up. I have done a lot of sales training and your voice comes across a lot better.

Have notes in front of you.

Prepare and research in advance.

Do it in a room away from the rest of the family where your not going to be disturbed.

I always do conference calls in just my boxers  VS you will be telling people to use the phrase "going forward" in every other sentence next! It's and engineering job not some sales job bull. OP always be yourself in any interview,be confident in your ability and most of all good luck

Thanks for your replies, my husband (luckily) has had many telephone interviews before as where he works currently that's the process for gaining a new role so were hoping this is an advantage for him! Not sure the date of it yet but will keep you all posted :) thanks

My husband has his interview on Wednesday for the job in Perth, the company were planning on coming over to do face-to-face interviews however they have decided to do formal telephone interviews instead! Were not too worried about not meeting anyone from the organisation as we have met them previously a few years ago when they did a recruitment campaign in our local area. After this interview he will either be offered a job or turned down so it is a massive day for us!!!!!!!! Wish us luck this week could literally be LIFE CHANGING!!! xx

Thank you, my hubby passed the interview and is having his medical tomorrow, once they have received the paperwork back from it, if the health department sign it off then he will get his formal offer! eekkkkk! Very excited, nervous, mixed emotions, fingers crossed this time next week we will know whether we are going or not! Sam :)
