Trying not to let work colleagues know..... harder than I thought!

11 weeks till I can hand in my notice at work and struggling to keep it quiet. Our container is being packed on 22/23 September and I have booked 2 days holiday so that I can be at home then. OH flies on 25 September and the girls and I will camp in the house till we fly on 30 October...

I have so much to do before the move and really don't want to give the game away before I hand my notice in.

Our eldest (aged 7) knows (amazing how much they pick up through eavesdropping!) but her sister (aged 5) does not....

The girls used to pop into work with me on Friday afternoons but have had to stop this. Also dread running across any work colleagues on the social side as my eldest may say something.....

What hope have I of keeping it away from my work colleagues till then?? :skeptical:

good luck !! my girls practically told the whole school, teachers, friends, check out girls in asdas, they are very excited lol !!

would it cause problems for your work to know, or would they be excited for you ? maybe telling people might make it a bit easier and not having to worry about slipping up.

I would let work know now but it may cause issue for my fellow PA as she has told me in confidence that she is announcing her pregnancy in a few weeks once she has passed the 16 weeks mark as its been a long awaited and very hard going 5 year wait for her and her partner and they've now gone the IVF route. I really hope for her that it goes well but I don't want to stress her by announcing I am going before she is passed the "safe" 16 weeks mark. OH says I should just tell my bosses now......

thats a hard one ! your friend may be really excited for you but understand your reasons for not saying anything. if it wouldnt jeopordize your job you could just tell your bosses ? i think you will feel a big relief once its done.

without sounding awful, there is no "safe" period of pregnancy, babies are lost at all stages and there's usually (in my professional experience) an obvious reason for it- Babies don't usually suffer due to maternal stress, they take what they need regardless of how the mum is. I do however understand your predicament, good luck SZ! I think your OH is right xx

i also worry that we have told quite a lot of people, and what if it doesnt work out, what if we dont get our visa or save enough money :-/

what if i go crazy living like this and decide to chuck it all in

i think you should be able to tell who you like as you have your visa and flights booked and its all very exciting :-)))

You will get your visa and you will save enough money but if you decide not to go then you have done a lot more than many people would ever contemplate so who cares what others think xxxxxxx

heh, I'm the same.. Though for my ACS skills assessment I had to get a current employer reference so I had to tell the directors. No one else knows and now, since my meds and police checks are finalising, I'm about ready to burst not telling anyone else in work as it seems like a decision is not so far away now.

Only reason I've not said too much to so many people is in case it all falls though somehow! :(
