moss2oz
Hi guys. Just had Pickfords round to get me a quote and now my head is totally battered in. I was going to take some pieces of furniture that I'm not really bothered about and put clothes and things inside them but he said I can't do that. So I'm not taking those pieces of furniture now, that's fine. I wasn't going to take my washing machine which isn't that old but was not expensive. However, he said that front loaders in Oz are expensive and most people use top loaders. Has anyone else found this to be true? He then started asking about money transfers and banks in Oz. I said I'd been in touch with Moneycorp and they offer PIP users free transfers, etc and he said that they all do. He said TorFX were better and that I could open a bank account with ANZ whereas Moneycorp recommended a different bank. My sister lives in Perth and is with BankWest and said I could open an account there. Any advice would be appreciated. :ssign16:
flatpack
Google TorFX and read about their history. I very nearly used them until I read a little about one of their directors and a currency exchange company going bust. He was a director of both companies at the time and as far as I was concerned that was enough of a link for me to stay well clear. We have opened a NAB account independently of any currency exchange company and have had no problem using it with Moneycorp. All I say is don't beleive the hype, he's recommending TorFx because there will be some kind of kick back, that's how it works. I'm recommending Moneycorp because I've used them, had great rates from them and they have no links, tenuous or not, to companies that have gone bust. nikkiwd
we used ukforex to transfer funds but discovered later that if you have a NAB account then Moneycorp give you free transfers. We didn't pay a fee anyway as we transferred over their minumum amount.
Deb
We used TorFX but the rate was no better than the bank.Pickfords recommend them. We bought a washing machine here and prices are not bad, they give you deals knock money off and some throw in free delivery. If you have signed up with Pickfords then watch them when they are packing as much as you can.
odies
we have used moneycorp and they were great, plus saved on using the bank, if you do tell them about PP they then do not charge a fee. my friends/relations used Robinsons, i may use PSS to ship furniture etc.
Gidza
No fee transfers usually have a lower exchange rate. That's hiw they make their money by enticing clients with no fees so my advice is to compare the exchange rates on offer
Raychelsb
Why did he say you can't put clothes in furniture? We had PSS round to quote us and they told us to do this to save on space. So I'm filling all get drawers etc with all sorts!
Marshel
Moss2oz When we were out last year on holiday I loved using the top loader and it was the one thing I was looking forward to buying. I love my top loader and don't think I'll ever go back to a front loader.

Rossmoyne
Moss2oz When we were out last year on holiday I loved using the top loader and it was the one thing I was looking forward to buying. I love my top loader and don't think I'll ever go back to a front loader. Top loaders kill clothes and do not wash as effectively as front loaders. Yes they are quicker.... but the trade-off is not good.
Druid
HiFx beats TorFX hands down, I used them both to trial, HIFX was much easier, better rates & it's free from the UK, you can do it all online once set up, bring your washing machine and vacuum pack your clothes, we used PSS, they said we could pack 'light' clothes pillows etc inside furniture no problem. moss2oz
Thanks for the advice guys. Think I'm going to take the washing machine. Am going to ring PSS about this. Pickfords said they need to know what is in the drawers and even if they put on the itinerary that there are clothes, etc in them this increases the chance of customs wanting to take a look. Makes sense.
