Keith
It's Michelle again today as Keith has gone to do Ielts number 4!!!!! He getting a tad frustrated with it all now but I am hoping with all the practise and obviously knowing how the test is set out now that today will be his day. Our 4 yr old keeps saying mummy Australia is taking a long time isn't it as it's all we've talked about for so long, so to be able to tell her it will be soon will be amazing. So let's hope he's nailed it today bless him can't wait to see the look of relief on his face when he passes this. X

Keith
I'm sure you will be fine, lots of practice seems to be the key and I'm sure it just depends on the person too keith is not academic at all being a gas fitter it's not something he does day to day, but it's what we have to do. I wish you luck with your next stage x
Ellen Hughes
Hi Michelle, it must be sooo hard having to go through it all again. I found it hard trying to keep my OH motivated and positive and he only sat it twice. I wish you and Keith all the best of luck and will keep fingers crossed that he nails it this time :-)

It's so frustrating as it's only 1 point for reading he misses out on but we got to keep going. gar374
Fingers crossed for you both. As Ellen said, she had to keep me motivated. I got what I thought I needed first go, to be told, no, you need more. So eventually decided to give it another bash. I was lucky enough to get what we needed. Knowing the format made all the difference to me, but with speaking the examiner makes a huge difference too. I hope he knew before going today that we were all pulling for him. If not, he does now. We had a few tears shortly after midnight the night the results came online, knowing we'd managed to complete the first step. I'm sure you'll get there, and I look forward to you posting when you do. Good Luck Gareth
Keith
Thank you, Keith always reads the well wishes on PP and it gives him a boost as so many people know exactly how he feels. It must of been such a good feeling when you got your results, it's something I can't wait for as I know keith will be relieved as well as being able to move on to the next bit. We just feel a bit stuck at the moment but hopefully Lady Luck was with him today. Well it's fingers crossed now for 13 days!! Thanks again x

donnachivers
Its a truly awful feeling. You feel like youve let everyone down. I consider myself quite academic, needed all 9s, and it took me 3 attempts. I went for my speaking test the third time and the examiner told me it was really difficult to get, and not many people could get such high scores. Came out of there thinking, oh my god, im never going to do this. And i did it!! it was always the writing one I struggled with. Was getting high scores on everything else!! We set out for the 190 skilled (bricklayer) and had to get 8s . I took it 4 times but could still only manage 7s I know exactly how Keith feels!!! After fourth attempt we changed to 489 regional and we arrive in mandarah in sept There may be a plan b
Keith
Hi Ernie, we're going for the 189 visa and I've got to get a seven but I think after this we will have to change visa like you say, I'm just not the pen and paper type and the test has nothing to do with my job which is the most frustrating thing! We have also pin pointed Mandurah as a possible place to live it looks amazing and the property was more suited to what we can afford, my OH has family in Freemantle but we can't afford to live there. If you don't mind me asking what did you have to do to get the 489 visa compared to the 189?

Hi keith For the 489 I had to get 7 in ielts complete the skills assessment prove 10 years experience and practical examination. commit to 2 years living and working in mandurah . We did a reccie last march there's plenty of work for trades as you say the property prices are more realistic . We visited a show home in Lakelands and we're quite surprised how much they cost im not familiar with the 189 do you still need to do skills assessment ? Keith
We had to do a skill assesment with the TRA, I've got to achive a 7 in the ielts and had to get p60's and references for as far back as possible, we get permanent residency with the 189 and have the freedom of WA and can take on other work not related to my trade as a gas engineer, it seems more or less the same as your visa I think, we have seen Lakelands online and it looks amazing, when do you plane on moving over? JasonM
Keith, if you do go for it again i recommend http://www.ielts-exam.net/ and also on you tube there are a whole load of videos on how to pass the IELTS exam.
Keith
I get my results next Friday the 1st of August and then we can put in our EOI which makes it even more annoying, if I pass I'll be on the rum ha! I've got another test already booked for the 2nd of August just in case but I'm hoping to ring them and cancell but at the same time I've got to keep pluging away, that would then make it 5 IELTS tests at £145 a pop!
