mrogers
Hi everyone. Container coming in two weeks and now just wondering if all my corded tools are worth taking. I have a few 240v UK plug tools and a few 110 tools, hilti drill, bosh grinder etc... i also have lots of household stuff but i believe it's just a case of switching plus. But the 110v i need help with. does 110v exist for site work and if so are they same? Help appreciated as always.

Bring all the 240v stuff, 110v doesn't exist here, and yes you will have to invest in some plugs from Bunnings, there is a rule about having the plug moulded on, but no one seems to bother anyway, my works winged at me about switching plugs on my cordless drill charger & lead lamp, but I still used them & they passed the yearly PATS test, so stuff em
rob-c
Yeah you won't want the 110 sell it
mrogers
That is good to know. I'll flog the 110v stuff then and buy new when i get there. Where's cheapest place to buy power tools from? Do they have an equivalent to screwfix?

No screwfix here, most hardware stores sell tradie power tools, there are also places like this http://www.beyondtools.com it might be worth your while buying new in the UK and sending them in your container, compare prices from Bunnings Warehouse to ScrewFix & decide

Lee Thorp
Hi I'm sure if you change the plug on your transformer then you can still use your 110v tools, remember it will cost a lot to replace them and you might not get much for your old tools

Druid
So does everyone use 240v in oz,even on major sites Everything I have seen is 240v, I just googled it and yes Australia is 240v on building sites, no 110v, Electrical testing companies are not allowed to pass or PATS test on 110v tools
rob-c
All 240 no 110 as Druid says if you are caught using 110, which will not pass test and tag, you will be in for a ton if grief really not worth it
