looking for some advice as we are struggling to get any sense out of our agent.

im a nurse, so am the main applicant on our 489 regional sponsored visa. we also have our daughter who is dependant. we started the process in March 13 with ielts, skills assessment. we lodged received our invite to apply and lodged our application on 12 feb 14. we then had more evidence requested for dependancy, and medicals and police checks end of April 14. all back by 14 may. since then we have heard NOTHING.

we we applied through an agent, and we have asked them for advice, whether we should chase it up to which they have said no we just need to keep waiting for news. as you can understand we are unbelievably frustrated. can they say no at this stage? we knew it was a waiting game but surely there is only so much patience someone can have?

if anyone could offer any advice this would be appreciated. can we contact immigration ourselves? we have our ref no etc but our agent is not being helpful and adding to our frustration

thanks

I may be wrong, but if you have your reference number, I'm sure you can check your progress online, it's been a while but I seem to remember being able to log on and check progress, go on the DIAC website and have a look around, also nothing stopping you phoning DIAC, you may get fobbed off though, I would imagine they are pretty busy and have millions of phone calls a day asking the same question.n

Hi Rachell

We had the same experience and frustrations when we were moving over.

As others have said the whole world is trying to get over here and the Australians are very good at unnecessary procedures..so try and not worry be patient...

My advice would be to try and get your case ref number from DIAC before ringing them as if not that would be another grunt/gasp down the phone you may get from a very helpful Australian!!

I rang them 3 times from the UK ( at all times of the night) whilst going through the visa process before getting someone on the other end who was helpful. She told me that it was actual a case of the immigration worker randomly picking out your file from an 'in tray' and looking at it, and that it was ' Pot luck' if your file happened to be chosen. So all in all ring them, they will not rush unless they have too and even then it's slow!!
